I am at work and have been done with two hours' worth of tasks for the past hour and a half. Did that sentence make sense? Well, the point is that I finished things a lot quicker than I was expected to and so now I have nothing to do. Which means I'm basically getting paid to surf LiveJournal and Twitter and what have you, and it is awesome.
So Miley's new single, "Can't Be Tamed", is out, and as per usual I cannot stop listening to it. I do think she's trying a little too hard to break away from the whole Disney thing (the single cover has her in a cage, for crying out loud), but I still like the song. It's very... Ke$ha-ish. Not in terms of themes, obviously (because however edgy Miley's trying to be, the world is not ready for a Ke$ha-Miley hybrid), but in terms of its sound. Very electronic, poppy, dance-ish. Me likes.
ANYWAYS, in terms of actual real life stuff, my computer screen cracked. And this is after I just spend $350 to have said computer fixed because it kept shutting down randomly. Yet surprisingly, I have not yet flown off the handle about it. Rather, I'm just waiting to see if it's covered under the repair warranty (which lasts 90 days, I believe), and if it is, then I won't have to pay any money to fix it, which would be nice. But if it's not, I'm screwed, 'cause I'm flat broke. Not an atypical scenario for a college student, but not an ideal one either. Maybe I'll just steal this Mac at work. It's brand new and pretty and shiny and has a terabyte hard drive and no wires so it'd be sooooooo easyyyyy ... I mean, *cough* I'll just have to save up for a new one.
Also, my Time Capsule may or may not be getting replaced by Apple. I called Tech Support and they said it's covered under an extended warranty that Apple released, because apparently everybody has been having trouble with their Time Capsules. You'd think they'd have waited to release it, then, but whatever. But this combined with my computer is making me realize that there's been a disturbing trend with Apple lately: They're becoming what Microsoft used to be.
In the past, Apple was the good guy that people would turn to when Microsoft was being a big, bad bully with terrible customer service (which was all the time), but now, Microsoft's kind of flowing low under the radar and Apple's turning into the merciless corporate giant. I mean, the only reason I got my computer fixed in the first place was because I took it to an independent contractor; Apple wanted $500 for the same repair. $350 is still a lot but it's a much more reasonable price in comparison. And I actually got so frustrated with Apple's terrible support services earlier this year that I almost made the jump to PC, but after I played around with a few different Dell's and HP's, I realized that there was no way. I've grown up on Macs; my family's had them my whole life (I learned to type on one of those old Apple IIs), so I'm pretty much stuck with them. Which is fine, I love the operating system, it's just ... their customer service could be SO MUCH BETTER. Argh.
Sorry. Boring tangent. In productive news, there are two weeks of school left (one regular, one finals week), and we may or may not be filming for "Acting Out" this weekend. It would be awesome if we were, because then we could have the pilot done before school's over and we can start shopping it around, see if it drums up interest. Watch this space! Or something.
And in TV news, "Glee" continues to fill me with ... well, you know. Also, I finally watched Firefly and Serenity and they were AMAZING. (More on this later, possibly.) And last night's episode of Family Guy was apparently huge, but I haven't watched it yet. I just know it's about Brian and Stewie. So it'll probably be good.
Well, my boss just walked through the door, so I'm gonna have to see if there's anything else I can do, but keep it real, LiveJournal! I know I don't post that much but I'm around all the time. I lurk. In a mostly non-creepy way.
Lots of tags this time around. Oy. I'll just say I'm being thorough! That's a good reason, right?
