Hmm. With a DVD-R drive, the Optiplex SX270 sounds like the basis of a decent home theatre PC. small, quiet, DVD-R drive, DVI, all good things. Add a USB TV tuner, a wireless keyboard/mouse, and something like the Turtle Beach Roadie for optical sound. Load Linux and MythTV, and you're ready to go!

Great idea, and I had that inkling while I was considering ordering it. Not sure I need MythTV (I watch almost no scheduled shows since the termination of Firefly) but I'm going to see how well the little box works serving up movies and digital camera shots. It's certainly small enough and quiet enough to fit in with the rest of the gear under the big TV. It's an ongoing project, and I'll post status reports here from time to time.

Good old Jeff! First an investigation into the meaning of "MILF", then an exposé on nudity in American currency, then a report on
blondes getting their bums pinched, and now Texas Elegance and the precise demarcation of duties in the "show us yer bits" industry. I don't know how we'd keep up with the changes in modern porn without you...

If I'm your sole source of info on the porn industry, well, then you're every bit as stodgy an old man as I am. I find the whole thing pretty funny, but I do credit the porn industry with figuring out how to sell digital content without DRM, which they've been doing since before the Internet went mainstream. (I learned that reading the Wall Street Journal, which had a longish article on something called Danni's HotBox, a pioneering e-commerce porn site.) Hell, if they can do it, I don't see why the rest of us can't.
