SMAP Donates Proceeds from Downloads of New Single to Help in Relief Efforts
The Japanese Entertainment scene finally mobilised their artistes and TV stations to appear on special programs to urge everyone to join in the donation and relief efforts to help Japan, nearly a week after the Super Quake.
During Fuji TV's 'Smap x Smap' broadcasted at 10pm yesterday, the usual 1-hour long program was converted into 1-hour LIVE program hosted by SMAP (shown on the right), to urge citizens to contribute their best to the relief efforts.
SMAP also did a Chinese remake of their famous single, 'Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana', and uploaded the single on the internet for Chinese netizens to download. All proceeds from this 'pay per download' movement will be donated to the Japanese quake refugees.
Also under Johnny's Entertainment, popular 5-member boyband ARASHI also expressed their deepest condolences and comfort to the citizens of Japan during broadcast of one of their variety shows 'ARASHI NI SHIYAGARE', on 19th March, last Saturday.
On Asahi TV's popular music programme, 'Music Station', artistes such as Tackey and Tsubasa (Hideaki Takizawa and Tsubasa Imai), Juju, Chemistry, etc, also beseeched the citizens to do their best for charity, and contribute to the current relief efforts.
