Home again, home again
What a month! Lots of food, lots of travel, and lots of people. I just want to curl up in a chair with a few hundred books and lots of TAB and hibernate. Great to see B again. Guess I'm getting used to twice a year visits. TG for cell phones, e-mail, ofoto and LJ! Hard to cut that cord, though. Can't believe she will be 27 next week. She just called from the airport---late as usual! Said the counter person gave her a chewing out for the lateness (5 minutes to spare!). Said she would call me from Berlin. Know she will have a great summer.
A just ran a 1/2 marathon---13 miles. Didn't run for time, as she was keeping a friend with a bad knee company---so the little showoff ran parts of it backward, taking pics of her friend and other runners! Still ran it in 2 hrs. And I'M STILL having trouble walking! She just got a promotion and has already earmarked the raise money for a trip to Fiji. As her Dad said, she's just having too much fun! Ain't fair!
We just got back from a trip to Oahu and Maui. I really didn't want to go, but G has been pestering me for years and I finally had to say yes. I am much more a big city girl than a beach girl. But I've got to say this was one of the most relaxing trips we've ever taken. If you don't count my "Alzheimer" moments!
We missed our departing flight because I was mistaken about the flight time. So we had to sit in the airport for 3 hrs. for the next flight. Then all our flight schedules were dropped from the computer, so we lost all our seat assignments for the entire trip. Then, because of the last minute changes we were targeted as terrorists and heavy-duty searches (both luggage and personal) ensued every time we got on a plane. Then to top it all off, upon arriving at the Maui airport after a 45 minute ($50) taxi ride from our hotel, I discovered I had left my purse in the hotel lobby! Jumped back in the taxi and was heading for the hotel when my driver said I'd never make it on time. So he called the hotel on his cell and after I agreed to pay the fare, the hotel clerk put my purse in a cab and the cabbie drove it up to me ($70 more). I made it to the gate with 10 minutes to spare (B inherited my late gene). G has started calling out an inventory list every time we leave the house.
