Impersonality

The amount to which people have become dependent on computers and learning info without personal interaction is a little scary.  I mean, at one point people could only learn stuff about one another when interacting with an actual human.  Then telephones came along.  This still involved interaction between people.  Then the internet started.  We all got e-mail.  But still, you could only learn something if another person specifically decided to inform you of this.  Then myspace/facebook began.  Which was basically a new form of e-mail.  But now, with the "news feed" you can learn everything about a person just by them posting something or changing something on their profile.  I just learned that a girl I once liked just got engaged.  She has no idea that I know that though.  I only know that because facebook told me that she changed her status to "engaged."  Does this change of transferring information kind of scare anybody else?
