What happened to Jpop?
Okay so years after, I'm going back. My thoughts about J-pop?
It's been years, and the K-pop scene dominated the entire world while J-pop is still enclosed within its country of origin. I know Japan's music industry is a huge market and is enough to be the home of numerous artists. BUT in the age of digitalization, they are way behind, 100%. Heck, I even went back to LJ for the lack of media sources for these J-pop idols.
While I lost track of Hey! Say! JUMP's releases, I always watch their (or YAMADA's for that matter) dramas. Now I only use spotify and/or apple music, where infinite number of songs can be found, EXCEPT for Johnny's. WHICH TOTALLY SUCKS RIGHT? Their isolation is quite frustrating and discouraging especially to new international fans. They still make us buy multiple versions of jewel cased CDs that are so fragile and overpriced. Yes, their songs can be streamed now, but in a limited number of platforms only.
I do find it funny that in 2019, I still struggle to find HD pics or even decent quality pics of these people. In K-pop, there are tons of fansite masters, fancams, official photos, selcas, etc. etc. etc. In J-pop? I mean... Why the heavy censorship?? You really think we won’t buy whatever you release if we see pics of these idols every single day? If anything, it would even make us more hooked to them!
Back then, it was even easier to find subbed videos or even updates about each group. Now, even with Facebook, you totally get ZERO results from them aside from reposts from news sites. Fans get info from thousands of LJ communities, where we dig deeper and deeper just to find the content we need. I tried my best to learn the language and now I can decently understand without subs, but since even the RAW videos are no where to be found, what else can I do? Can you help me get back on track and recommend some active communities?
I hope that in the near future, Johnny's would have entered a new era; An era that is more open to the world.
