ok, well, i haven't been on here in agessssss..... so....

1st off, as most of you know, i've been single again now for a few months, and as horrible as it sounds, i really am better off. i'm not looking for anything anytime soon again either.
klondike (my white dwarf hamster) died a few weeks right after the brake-up, so i was a little bit of a wreck because it was 2 big blows at once, and i had no forewarning that he would die (most of the others always looked "old" or raggy or even a little sick right before they died, but not him). anyways, Pandy visited me soon after all this for the weekend, and I couldn't have made it out so well without him. I love you pandy! you are the most amazing friend ever! overall i've been really good, a little down still now and then but life is looking up.

however... a little bit of bad news... i had bought a new dwarf hamster (amazingly cute, white with yellow spots all over and a blonde face), a girl (i've only had males) who was extremely tame in the pet store... but... a day after i brought her home she turned tottttttttaly phsyco! let's just say, if she could, she would rip your hand to shreds. but...... after around a month.... one of her eyeballs swelled to an enormous size... it realllllyyyy freaked me out (my mom said someone at work who had a dwarf hamster said it died after its eyeball exploded). yet, a few hours later she looked fine, so we (my mother and i) thought that maybe we had just not seen clearly, that perhaps it was just a poop over her eye and making her look weird.... then a few days later.... it happed again... and didn't go away... she seemed allright, eating food, etc... but she'd scratch around her eye, and her fur around there was all wet, and she made some noises now and then (they never make noise) so we called the vet..... and we had to put her to sleep (we could have done surgery, but with something that small the chances of her surviving after anesthetics is low... and then how long would she live even then?... but yeah... what a horrible way for any animal to have to live/die......

even though its hard to follow up something like that with happy news, well... here it is! I JUST BOUGHT A HEDGEHOG! many of you know that i've always wanted one, and now i have one! :0D it's a boy, and i haven't really thought of names yet (been too busy trying to set up his cage, etc) so feel free to suggest some! but nothing cliche' like "spike" or male names starting with "h"..... thus, no stupid names, only fun, silly, crazy, unique, etc ones. anyways, here's some examples of what he looks like (obviously not him yet, just some pics):

so he's the more or less normal coloring. he had a lot of siblings who where all white or mostly white (but i didn't think they were as cute) and one who was a bit more black, which i thought was cuter, but he was too grouchy/shy. this little hedgie seems good natured, and though he still huffs, grunts, and makes his "grumpy face" (when they puff the quills up and it goes over their eyes on their face and they look all silly) at first, he calms down fairly quickly. i've only had him a day... well... not even that yet. oh! he's already done the self-anointing though, which is a really crazy thing that hedgies do, and no one quite knows why. basically, when they encounter a new or interesting smell, they lick at it, then foam at the mouth and lick that foam on themselves, supposedly to get the smell on them a bit. its weird, kind of gross, but also silly since they contort all over to get it on their backs, etc. I'm sure theres videos of it on youtube or something if you're really interested. anyways, he's not in his permanent cage yet, and i still need to buy him some things, for instance, today i'm out to get a wheel!

oh, and the summer course i've been taking has been going fairly well.

so yeah! thats up to date i guess.

hugs
