Hmm... mostly dealing with the music meme today. I need to pick a song to describe myself. Which requires that I know the self that I'm describing.
I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out who I am. I know that I ask a lot of myself, and that I don't always get there, but overall I like who I am. I'm generally pretty easygoing. I do my best to treat everyone around me fairly and with respect. I get my work done and out of the way pretty efficiently, then focus on people. I do my best to give and give and give as much as I can. I don't know. Like I said, I'm not perfect, but I'm trying to live as God would want me to. And as someone wise once said, the glory of God is a human being fully alive. So I guess that's the best way for me to describe myself... alive. As much as humanly possible.

Click to viewIt feels a little bit like I'm taking the easy way out by choosing to describe myself through my relationship with God, but ultimately, it is the central defining feature of who I am and who I want to be. Everything about the way I act and the way I treat others comes from my attempts to be right with him. So yes. Like Lifehouse, I'm still figuring everything out, but I don't want that to stop me from fully committing to what he wants from me. And like Casting Crowns, I know I'm not perfect and I know I don't always live up to the standards I aspire to, but it's not about how I see myself; rather, it's about learning to trust the God who knows me better than I know myself.
