Moving On

No matter what happens in life, life keeps happening.  It's one of the few things you can really depend on, I suppose.

The last few days have been hard.  Amanda and I both feel like it was a good decision for us to be apart right now, but that doesn't make it any easier.  We're both using this time effectively- growing, changing, pushing ourselves- but at the end of the day, we love each other like crazy and don't want to be apart.  We had a semi-emergency with one of our boxers last night, and realized just how badly we both wanted to pull the trigger on having me get in my car and drive like a madman out to Arizona.

That's the thing, though.  The pain would have gone away for a little while, yes.  But we're both learning to accept the pain, to use it as a teacher, to know that we're each strong enough to hold it and that we don't need to run away from it.  It's strange.  I'm hurting, but I'm not scared- in fact, I feel better, more solid, and more grounded than... well, ever.  It's like they say about the difference between pain and suffering- pain is an inevitable part of the human experience, but suffering only happens if you choose to interpret the pain as suffering.

...

Anyway, shifting gears completely, when not wrestling with the above, I have been finding some time to enjoy myself this week.  I finally broke the 100-win mark on the Random WiFi matchups in Pokemon Black, which is awesome, and I'm happy to say I did so with a winning record (100-90, if you care).  It would be a lot more of a winning record if the cheating bastard twelve year-olds out there would actually show some sportsmanship, though.  I'm up to 27 disconnects, so comparing that to my win total, it seems that about 20% of the WiFi population fits the description in the previous sentence.  It's just frustrating to get D/C'd three times in a row, then get steamrolled by someone who probably would have dropped you if you were winning anyway.  And don't get me started on the use of Ubers...

In other Pokenews, I'm doing a loose Nuzlocke run on a bootlegged copy of LeafGreen I accidentally bought a while back.  Somehow less harrowing this time around, possibly because of how much better I know Kanto.  Still, good times.  Luckiest bit so far: first encounter in Viridian Forest was a Pikachu.  XD

Finally, aviekokyre and yamikonumber7 (and any other pokepeople out there): check out Make-A-Wish GTS.  Free giveaways daily, usually shiny, legendary or otherwise fancy-schmancy Pokemon.  If you want to sign up, using the link above will get me nice things.  ;)

Have a Merry Christmas, guys.

games, life is good, pokemon, growing
