Continuing to get settled in the house... it's been quite boring, actually. I've got everything set up in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, and we're still kind of figuring out what to do with the living room, but for the time being, there's not really any work to be done. We still have no internet, there's no school work to be done, and I don't really have anyone to hang out with here yet, so... it's been boring. I went to my DVD collection for the first time in months last night, only to discover that Taken was missing. Sad day. I'll need to talk to
orelle_peredhil and see if it's at the old place.
Tonight should be good, though, as I get to meet up with Nicole, Lauren and Wes for dinner and stories as they return from Thailand. Then starting tomorrow, boredom should pretty much not be a problem until next summer. Orientation begins bright and early... actually, way too bright and early. Unemployment has gotten me going to bed at ridiculous hours and sleeping till noon or later for the last couple months, and while I've been trying to fix that in preparation for this week, I couldn't sleep last night and got up at noon. Orientation begins tomorrow at 6:00 AM. 8Db
Yikes. In the meantime, how about a music meme?
Day 28: A song that makes you feel guilty
Huh. Oddly, I do have an answer for this one...

Derek played in Convo at Pepperdine way back when, and mentioned he was giving his CD away for free online, so I went and got it. It's... well, it's refreshingly blunt. Christian music tends to focus on the good stuff- yay, God loves me, God forgives me, God is awesome, I am unworthy but you like me anyway, look at this awesome earth you made, yadda yadda yadda- but Mr. Webb tries to highlight the things that Jesus said to do that we, in turn, tend to gloss over and ignore. For example... sell all your possessions, give them to the poor, and follow me. Love your enemies. All the things that we applaud the apostles for doing, but just can't bring ourselves to consider doing in our own lives.
Not surprisingly, his style hasn't exactly made him friends- he had a bit of a falling-out with his label over a recent song urging people to "give a s***" about these issues- but I applaud him for saying the things that don't get said.
This CD is good. I don't listen to it when I'm just in the mood to listen to something, though, because it's hard to sit there in my own little world with these songs on and not feel convicted. But I need to. The truth hurts, but I need to have it.
