Primary Debacle

I was sitting at home, and my mother reminds me that today is the Primary election, so we go to vote. One of the "officials" comes over to me after I submit my ballot and tells me that my shirt is inappropriate and that if this was the November election, I would not be allowed to vote. I was/am wearing my "Vote For Pedro" t-shirt from Napoleon Dynamite.

I explain to him that this is from a movie, and not intended to influence voters to vote for this fictional character. But he proceeds to tell me that that doesn't matter, and it is still inappropriate. I continued my case by stating that this is America, and I can wear whatever I want since there is no dress code posted anywhere at the polling site. He still said that it is not allowed.

So I flat out told him, "I am an American in America doing my civic duty by voting, and I could wear a shirt that says "Pimps up, Whoes down, Dems rule and Reps Drool" if I wanted to and there is no law against it, so unless you get the President, Governor, or Mayor to stop by and say otherwise, I'll wear whatever I damn well please."

He had a dazed look on his face as if he just saw a ghost, and I looked at the other "officials" and saw that a couple of them had smirks on their faces, so I take it he probably isn't well liked. I then turned to my mother, asked if she was ready to go, and left.
