no rest for the wicked

I feel like I need a vacation. Sad, since I just had a long weekend.

Wicked Faire is quickly approaching, and we've been costuming like crazy. For those of you who don't know, we're basically doing a Candyland parody of the original Star Wars trilogy. But we spent a really large amount of the weekend sewing. I mean, we got through a spontaneous marathon of all six Star Wars movies on Saturday, and we still had a lot to do. We just put Episode I on and kept putting them in when we weren't finished. And we're still not quite done. For Brandon's costume (a Candyland version of Boba Fett = Bazooka Fett, a Bazooka Joe homage), I got to try my hand at upholstery sewing, working on foam armor... although unfortunately with a slightly too-big needle that screamed at my hands every time it got to a thick edge. I also sewed a silky light blue version of a ren faire blouse, minus the sleeves, so I could be a Candyland/renfaire/female version of Lando Calrissian (Landa Caramelissian). We're really going to need to practice fighting in our outfits, although we designed them with that in mind.

Despite high hopes for the long weekend, I didn't get to catch up on studying. That's my fault, I just really didn't wanna, and didn't think about it. I still don't. I really have to crack my own code and figure out what buttons I need to press to make myself study early.

This morning getting back to school also felt like bizarro world, as the trains were empty and generally on time, and I got in to school early.

Now, I really can't complain about this weekend too much, because Valentine's Day just came early for me. I must mention that I got to see Phantom of the Opera with Brandon on Thurs (ohmygoodnessyay!). And you know what, there isn't much that's more geek romantic than costuming while having a Star Wars movie marathon. Awww, geek love.
