State of the Union
I just watched the State of the Union and the Democratic Response and I am absolutely horrified. Here is a brief summary of the speech:
"blah blah blah...eliminate all restrictions on trade...blah blah blah...nucular weapons*...blah blah blah...gay marriage bad...blah blah blah....let me rape your civil liberties"
* as opposed to nuclear weapons.
The Democratic Response was far too concilatory for my tastes. Essentially:
"Well...we kinda disagree with you, if that's okay. I mean, like, if you want us to vote for something we will...and stuff. And if you don't want us to filibuster we won't to that either, I suppose."
And the dude had his freaking eyebrow raised the whole time while giving the speech. It was like the whole Response was supposed to be ironic somehow. Maybe it was. I can imagine the headlines tomorrow:
"DEMOCRATS DECIDE IT WILL HURT LESS IF THEY DON'T RESIST, STOP BOTHERING TO VOTE ON LEGISLATION"
Minority Leader: "Fuck it. Just Vote for Alito."
Members of the Democratic Party leadership emerged from their drunken stupor to announce that the party will stop bothering to vote on "stupid shit like gay fucking marriage and civil liberties and crap". The President welcomed this as the bipartisanship he has been calling for...
