MS Walk - Team Wolfpack

Mar 19, 2007 12:51

Greetings,

I am writing to you today because of two simple letters that are not so simple. M.S. Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease that turns the body’s own immune system in on itself and damages the body’s nerves system. Victims of this disease will suffer from a wide range of ailments, from reduced or loss of vision, to numbness and tingling in the arms and legs to complete immobility. Over 400,000 people in the United States suffer from this disease and every hour someone is told that they have Multiple Sclerosis.

Almost two years ago my wife, Jenni, was told that she has MS. She has experienced loss of her vision, the loss of sensation from the waist down and the loss of strength in her arms and legs several times in the last few years. Each time, she is given a three-day regiment of injections of steroids to stop and partially reverse the effects of her exacerbations. She also has to deal with daily or weekly injections that reduce her chances of an exacerbation by only 30%.

Last year, I put together a team of friends, family and co-workers to walk with me in the Seattle MS Walk. Since then, I have learned that a family member, one of my wife’s friends, and several parents of high school friends has MS. The numbers will only grow.

Last year, I had placed the team goal for pledges at $2,000. Together, my team raised over $2,700. This year, I’m aiming for $5,000 in pledges.

I ask that you support me in this endeavor by either pledging a donation of any amount, great or small, or donating your time and energy and walking with me.

UPDATE: I've had several people tell me that they're interested in joining the team and/or pledging support but have done neither. If you want to help, please use the links below and register. If you want to pledge, either use the link below or send a check to the following address:

National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Greater Washington Chapter
192 Nickerson St, Suite 100
Seattle, WA 98109

Please refer the team or my name.

Thank you,

Rob Skelton
