Jacob's Journal, entry 85

So, I sort of fail at this whole posting daily thing...:)

Still, I'm on time with this week's journal posting so woo!

The zombie babies were actually known as The Wailing Stillborn Babies of Coatlique. Given how gruesome they were, I wanted nothing more than to destroy them. Mindless, aberrations that made a mockery of creation that seemed to be good for nothing but destruction. Coatlique’s offspring were nothing more than a perversion in my eyes, so I had no qualms with the slaughter than came once we set on our path. Granted, I didn’t enjoy it so much as just felt it had to be done. Cesar enjoyed the hell out of it though. Sometimes his glee in taking a life disturbs me - but then he’s also not willing to let me get up on a high horse about it either. He was quick to point out once the fight was over that I was right in the middle of the carnage. I’m jumping ahead a little bit. The fight itself was not overly difficult. By calling on the power of the falcon I was able to hit the creatures without difficulty. Cesar of course drew first blood and we discovered then that a shot which would kill the Wailing’s body allowed the head to detach and continue the attack.

This actually disturbed Cesar and he quickly dispatched the head coming towards him as the rest of us began our attack. I focused on killing the bodies as they were the more dangerous given the snakes and talons. It was a brief battle and mostly silent so we wouldn’t alert the nearby gigantee to our presence. After it was over and Cesar and I finished our latest round of bickering - it’s a wonder we like each other considering how diametrically opposed our outlook on life is, but luckily we do - we looked around and continued following the power lines further into the jungle. We hadn’t gone very far when Sam warned us that it was “Jurassic Park time”. From all sides we were surrounded by fifteen Nemean Velociraptors. They moved in such a way I knew that even with my affinity with falcons I could never hope to land a hit, so I infected them all with the flu. Not the most fear inducing disease in the world, but it managed to harm them quite a bit. Storm seemed to think this would be a pretty big fight and he pushed me out of the way as he...well...the man wolfed out. I knew he’d been cultivating his connection with canines, but I didn’t know he’d advanced to the point of taking on their features yet. The snarling growl he let out as well as the transformation into a ten foot tall werewolf did cause the ‘raptors a moment of confusion. Sam, Carina, and Cesar took advantage of it while Helena silently focused on freezing the blood in the raptors’ veins. Between our four fighters I felt things would go quickly and stepped back to watch them in action as they finished off the group.

We continued on, passing a styracosaurus that merely watched us go by. I know they don’t belong in the world any longer, but I can’t help but enjoy seeing these majestic creatures live once more. The power lines led down into a chasm that was so wide we couldn’t even see the other side of it. Inside the chasm we could see the tops of trees and more vegetation, we could also tell this area was part of Terra not Midgard. We thought about it for a moment then all jumped, climbed, or flew down into the chasm. I know Hel won’t be happy I’ve gone into another Titan realm, but it had to be done, so I’ll deal with the consequences later. As we started towards the source of the power lines Sam heard voices ahead of us. Rather than stumbling into a potentially dangerous situation Carina and Cesar scouted ahead. Storm was apparently bored as he challenged Helena to a game of Tic-Tac-Toe while we waited. Unsurprisingly, she trounced him every time.

When Cesar and Carina got back they told us that up ahead was a stone wall, about 100 feet tall guarded by 8 Antean Giants and a spear loaded Gatling gun. Three Hecatonchires were roaming around as well but the real thing of note was the giant fleshy orb they were guarding. Talking it out, it didn’t take long for us to realize the orb was none other than one of Ouranos’ missing testicles. Yeah - the very thought made me shudder a bit, but learning what was causing this explosion of fertility in Antarctica was a good thing. We just had to figure out what to do about it.

At first we considered just taking the thing and storing it in Storm’s stadium as he’s wanted to try and strike a treaty with Ouranos since he discovered the titan’s statue in the void between Leng and Zin. But it was decided that would be too obvious and give Storm no way to hide what he’d done from his pantheon. His plans are tenuous and there really is no way to know how the Dodekatheon will feel about his efforts to restore Ouranos’ power. But if he does that can potentially free up the Itzlani to help the other pantheons in the fight with the titans so perhaps they’ll see the value of the action after the fact. Still, stealing the testicle from Gaia’s minions would inevitably put a crimp in the earth titan’s plans which will make negotiations with her more difficult. We had a long discussion to figure out exactly what we should do, how best to handle the situation and I’m not entirely sure we came up with a solid plan yet.

We know the first thing we’re going to do is evacuate the rest of the researchers from the stations in Antarctica. Otherwise we have two ways to go about this situation. Next we need to locate Ouranos. The belief is he’s somewhere in the Titan realm of Air. Determining his location shouldn’t cause too many problems as we wouldn’t be approaching him without his missing organs. From there plan A is to let Cesar’s pantheon take credit of the theft of Ouranos’ testicles as we figure we can now find the other based on the location of the one behind that wall. We’ll steal them and take them to Ouranos and let Storm negotiate his treaty then give Gaia a little bit of time to cool off before negotiating for her people to move into Vanirheim, assuming I can convince the Vanir to allow such relocation. This plan doesn’t allow us to take full credit for what we’re about to do, but Plan B does. In plan be we claim the theft and when we approach Gaia basically convince her this was a good thing that we did for Ouranos, now here’s what we can do for her.

I can see benefits to both actions - but they both have the chance to blow up in our faces so we need to proceed with caution. In dealing with Ouranos, Storm’s taking the most risk as his pantheon is not known to be forgiving. The rest of us are sort of along for the ride there, though I don’t think any of our pantheons will appreciate us bringing another titan into play unless there’s some way to keep them on our side.

As far as the relocation...well, I started laying the groundwork before going on this mission, but I have to make sure Hel’s on my side for this one as I will have to get the approval of not only Delling and my mother but Freya, Freyr, Njord, and Sif. I think I can easily get Sif to agree though there is such animosity between her and Hel that staying in my wife’s good graces will be difficult. I will need discuss how best to go about these negotiations with Storm once we aren’t so busy. If I were to attempt this without some assistance I have a feeling I would wind up buried somewhere under Helheim. I am a very lucky man, my wife adores me and I’ve yet to be out of her good graces. I’d prefer to keep it that way, as she can be force to be reckoned with when angered.

Another contingent of the Wailing are on their way up into Midgard, so our discussion has to be put on hold for now. We need to get to those researchers before the Wailing do.
