The park alongside the eastern bank of Liberation Lake is closed to the general public today. The sun still shines high in the sky, sparkling along the water as hawkbats forayed out of their dwellings in the undercity to try and catch the couree eels weaving their way in and out of the waves. Right now, she's never felt so sure of anything.
“Dad once mentioned that Mom was his beacon star; some sort of bright and guiding flame that kept him on course. I don’t think I fully understood what he met until you walked in to our life, Jag," she says softly and pushes a strand of hair from her face. "You helped me through some of the hardest times I’ve ever experienced and made us want to live. You keep us grounded and safe and happy."
Jaina takes a deep breath and continues, "And despite everything we’ve done to you - the rudeness when we first met, pushing you away after the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, trying to kill you merely a few weeks ago - you’ve always been there. You’ve never let me stand alone if you could help it. And I’ve never stopped loving you, even when we - I - wanted to.
“Since I met you, I’ve held a lot of titles. Daughter, sister, goddess. Lieutenant colonel, Sword of the Jedi. Today, we’re finally ready to take on one more: wife." She says the words slowly and resolutely. "I love you, Jagged Fel. And I promise that I always will.”

"Ever since I can remember, I was taught that emotions are a weakness. Consult them for information, but by no means let them guide your actions. I accepted this teaching because it served me well-- at least, it did until Ithor. Until Hapes and Borleias.
"Until I met you. A superior pilot in an elite squadron, dedicated and skilled. And yet, somehow... you still managed to hold on to your youth and positive outlook. You were, as I put it then, not grim. It was a refreshing surprise.
"You taught me that we must celebrate the little victories in order to help us in times when there are nothing but defeats. You taught me not to wait and enjoy life tomorrow, because there is no tomorrow. We must do as much as we can with the time we have, and that is what I do now-- I embrace you, my celebration and my victory and my neverending challenge, that we may sustain each other now and through the rest of our lives."

When they're both done, he ducks his head for a moment, deciding against the I think I'm going to cry comment as he thinks.
"All right," he says suddenly, remembering. He glances over at the smallest Skywalker, standing nearby. "Rings, if you will."

This is it. His Big Moment.
He hands them, carefully, to his cousin and Fel.
Then he quickly snatches them back and actually hands them over in the right order.
He steps back again, trying not to go red.

He's trying to remember what was next on his script. Some awful spiel about unbroken love. Made out of durasteel, presumably.
"The rings," he starts a little dubiously, "are a symbol. Shiny -- er, shining -- and an unbroken circle. Also, just plain pretty."
What?
"They exist to show the galaxy the, uh, promises and vows you've made to each other here today. Like the holocam crew," he adds, glancing over at Wolam, Tam and Tarc, "but smaller and easier to carry everywhere you go."

Instead, she continues to smile giddily at Jagged, taking his hand in hers and slipping a ring on to his finger.

Seeing as he's only got one good arm, Jaina holds her hand out and he slides the ring carefully onto her finger.

Wes watches and nods again, grinning slightly.
"Okay. You've got your rings and you've said your vows, well -- I now pronounce you husband and wife." There! And very official.
"I-- you--" Not skipping a beat. "--may kiss the bride."

Jag. Jagged Fel. Her husband.

It's rather fun, actually.
When they break away he is grinning widely, both at the crowd and at Jaina. Jaina Solo Fel. His wife.

"I present to you," he says to the crowd -- and really, there's no comment he can add here-- "the Fels!"
Except possibly the younger non-Imperial ones, but he won't. He'll just grin. And run and hide later.
