Allow me a quick, fandom-related rant. This is directed at no one in particular, just the general lot of us "batshit insane" fans.
LIGHT SPOILERS, BEWARE. (Trying to be vague though for those who really want to be spoiler-free)
Sometimes, I feel like the only person in the world excited for S6. I don't get it. What's up with all the hate, fandom? Yes, sometimes this show is a little weird and does shit that we don't always appreciate coughLisacough, but overall, I think the show is still good and still going strong. It's always been about the boys and their relationship and how they struggle to survive a hard life on the road.
Also, I think the spoilers for S6 were interesting and got me excited. I really want to see Sara's potential and how the show runs without Kripke being directly involved. I like the idea of moving past the Apocalypse (hell, I would've been ecstatic if they hadn't stopped it - seeing Cas complete his transformation to junkie sex-guru would've been hella interesting). And just because they said those certain things about Dean's storyline in the beginning doesn't mean he'll be happy-go-lucky Joe the Friggin' Plumber. This is still Dean we're talking about, and he only has one coping method.
But what I really don't get fandom, is why we can't all just be happy with what we're given... We're lucky to have made it this far; remember when we weren't sure there was going to be a second or a third season? And now we're headed towards a sixth? That's great!
What really irks me, though, is all the hate the season is getting, when we haven't even seen it yet. We're going back to a MotW format, which is what many people in fandom have been screaming about since the angels showed up. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, FANDOM. You weren't happy with the Apocalypse and now you're not happy going back to MotW. I. DON'T. UNDERSTAND.
What exactly do you guys want? Am I doing fandom wrong, by being generally happy with the show and every direction its taken thus far?
PS, I actually liked "Swan Song". It wasn't my favorite episode ever, and I think it would've been a lot more profound had Dean ended up as Michael, but I still enjoyed it and it still made me cry. And I can't wait for next season.
