FRAMINGHAM -- An argument between two 11th-graders yesterday turned violent after school when one stabbed the other in the stomach, police said.
Police did not release either the name of the victim or the suspect yesterday. The two attend Framingham High School.
According to Lt. Vincent Alfano, the two students had been arguing all day and it escalated at about 2 p.m.
"It was a verbal altercation between some of the students of the high school and it continued outside of the high school," said Alfano. "It moved to Bonito Drive, and it was still verbal at this point. At one point, it became physical and one student stabbed the other in the stomach."
Bonito Drive is near the high school, which is on A Street.
Alfano said the student went to the MetroWest Medical Center's Framingham Union campus to be treated for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The victim apparently drove himself to the hospital.
High School Principal Ralph Olsen said he does not know what the two students argued about. "It sounded like something that may have occurred over the weekend and continued off school grounds," said Olsen.
Olsen said a custodian was the first to report the fight, and several faculty members went to help. Olsen said he heard the victim was in stable condition at the hospital.
He would not discuss specific disciplinary measures for the students.
"Obviously it's a very serious infraction, and if there's a weapon involved, it's more serious," Olsen said.
As of 6:30 last night, no arrests had been made.

FRAMINGHAM -- A Framingham High School junior who stabbed a classmate Monday was seeking revenge after he lost a fistfight, police said yesterday, and now the boy is charged with trying to kill the other teen.
The 16-year-old boy is charged with assault with intent to kill, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and illegal possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, Lt. Vincent Alfano said.
Alfano said he was not sure how the fight started, but it continued to escalate until the stabbing at about 2 p.m.
"It started as a fistfight on Bonito Drive, which is next to the high school, and one of the boys got the worst of it," said Alfano. "The bad guy lost the fight, and they had disengaged at this point. He then produced a knife."
The teen thrust the knife into the stomach of his victim, whose name was not released by police.
Several friends of the victim loaded him into a car and drove him to MetroWest Medical Center's Framingham Union campus, where he remains in stable condition.
The brother of the victim witnessed the attack and tried to chase the running suspect in his car, Alfano said.
"He jumped in his car and chased after the suspect, and at this point, he was upset, and he lost control of the car and hit a parked car," said Alfano. "It was a minor accident, and no one was hurt."
Alfano said police immediately knew who stabbed the victim because a large group of students had gathered around the pair to watch the fight.
The teen was arrested at about 7:35 p.m.
Principal Ralph Olsen said Monday the fight was a continuation of a dispute between the two that began over the weekend.
He said it was unclear what action would be taken against the two participants.
It is not known what the fight was about, police said.
The suspect was scheduled to be arraigned in Framingham Juvenile Court yesterday, but a spokeswoman for the Middlesex County District Attorney's office said the arraignment was postponed until Thursday because no judge was available.
The teen will be held until Thursday on probation violations. A hearing to determine if the teen is a danger to the public is scheduled for Monday.
