Onward!

Current weather: cool and foggy

The weather has finally turned, that makes me very happy. Though I am still a little miffed at my housemate for turning on the AC when it is 72 out instead of opening his window. He didn't even bother to close all the other windows that were open. I hate that. Electricity is really expensive out here.

My birthday weekend was awesome. I just wanted to thank all of you who came down or wished me a happy b-day, whatever you did, it worked. We fenced friday night, hung out at the tall ship festival on Saturday and went on The Spirit of Dana Point for the pirate cannon battle. When I get a chance I need to post Sunday's pictures from the cannon battle. The battle was one of the neatest things I've seen in a long time. There were 5 tall ships out and each one had 4-6 cannons. Most of the ships had 4 six-pounders (which were good for sinking ships) but our boat was a replica of a privateer (legal pirate) so we had 6 four pounders (which were good for killing the people on deck, but not sinking the ship. You don't want to sink a ship before you can loot it.) The captains would judge their accuracy with the cannons on the reflection of the sound waves. A reflected sound wave is a hit. It was a lot of fun and the ships were beautiful.

In other news I am finally done with all my upper divs. I made it through the summer and things will finally slow down a little now. It feels good. Now I can get to the other half dozen projects I had waiting. I'm still waiting on the final grades to roll in but I'm estimating Bs in both the lab and the lecture. My gpa really needs those good grades, I'll just have to wait and see. So now all I have left is Calc A, which I am taking now and then in the spring Calc B and Phys B. There is still too much room for error so I have to stay on the ball if I want to finish in the spring. Even though this seems like a light load I know I will have to work really hard, these classes are not my forte. (in semester units each of these classes is worth 5 instead of 4 because of the difficulty)

The improvements on my house continue. Yesterday was the first day for painting in the upstairs hallway, it should be done tomorrow. I'm still working on getting the solid core interior doors and after that I plan to move on to the downstairs. It is all very exciting.

The fun never ends, my next trip will be up to Nor Cal Friday the 22 - 24 for the ren fair. We will be driving up on Friday, going to the fair on Saturday and driving back on Sunday. Coordinate with me if you want to join us there.
After that I don't have any major plans to travel until Thanksgiving weekend. We are hoping to go to Arizona for thanksgiving to visit Ryan's uncle. However October still has a few things that will keep us busy. Our friend in the army will be in town for most of the month so we will spend time visiting with him and the UCI fencing tourny is Oct 22 so I expect to have a carload of SC fencers staying with me. December of course brings finals and holidays. In-between the holidays I want to visit OR. Yes I know the weather will be awful, but if we have another 80 degree x-mas I'll be glad to escape into some cold rainy weather.

Well, that's all for now. Give me a holler if you want to visit, I love having company over.
