I've spent the past couple of days playing Professor Layton and the Curious Village and my brain is now in pain. Therefor, I really could do with some mindless entertainment tonight. However, I've decided to watch the latest star trek movie instead, because it rocks.

I'm going to start reading the  Discworld books (in response to kuteki 's suggestion) but I've decided to put off buying one till tomorrow. However, I just realised that we're due some torrential rain tomorrow. I actually quite like being out in the rain, as long as it doesnt lead to pneumonia or something, so maybe it wont be so bad.

One of the reasons I hadn't started reading the Discworld books is that at this point, there's so many books that It would take me ages to catch up. I've had the same feelings about some comic series I could have gotten into, like Batman. I mean, where would you start?  It has about 300 years of comics already.
I have similar feelings about getting into new fandoms. Some of them are so big that I just don't know where to start. It might be interesting to find a few decent Star Trek fics to read...Hell, I've been a fan of Star Wars most of my life and I've rarely read any Star Wars fics either. Man, I really think I've been neglecting my geekiness....

So, anyone got any decent fics to recommend? Anything from Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings...I've read plenty of Naruto and Harry Potter fics, so I can skip those. Preferably no Kirk/Spock please ;)
