Drive By Posting - New Apartment, Peegs, Leadership Academy, etc...

Sep 05, 2009 00:14

I keep refraining from posting because I want to wait until I have time to write out an entire spiel. It isn't working. Here's hopefully a brief run down on the many life updates and logistical nightmares that I've wanted to vent share.

I has peegs. Yes, you heard that right. I has peegs! I am fostering guinea pigs for the Orange County Cavy Haven, at last. You can read more about them (and view more pictures!) at this message board, but long story short, they live in a decked out Star Wars cage and are up for adoption.

It's a culmination of a series of events that led to Ken and I moving out of our apartment as soon as our lease was up--into a new apartment that is far less yucky, $400 cheaper, and will let us have guinea pigs.

You'd think that the cheaper rent would mean I'd be saving money, except I had to pay double rent, cover travel expenses, and car repair expenses, moving expenses, peeg expenses...*juggles money* Oh and my new computer of two months has issues, and I still don't know what to do with my life but it's a third over already, and blah blah blah...

I also attended the Georgetown Leadership Academy for Addressing Disparities in Mental Health Care in Santa Fe--my first big business trip--and survived. And I got to eat dinner with the chief in charge of, among other things, transition age youth at the Center for Mental Health Services at SAMHSA (so like, federal government level, yanno?)

I guess if you'd told me a few years ago when I was in the deep emo pit of despair that I would be going on business trips and living with a geeky boyfriend and two peegs in 2009 I probably wold not have believed you.

Anyhow, I guess the plan at this point is just to keep paddling. *paddles*
