Nico Minoru Fan Art, and Cold People
Ran the telly in the background. Saw the Scrubs Musical, A History of Drugs, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report (Bill O'Rielly, holy shit), and Oprah. I ended up watching an hour of Entertainment Tonight and an hour of CNN. The contrast was jarring. Entertainment Tonight was all, "Here is where Lindsey Lohan is going for rehab!" and "They need to fire that bigot from Gray's Anatomy!" CNN was like, "here is the kidnapped boyz kthxbye" and "omg people in OK are frozen and without power" (really sucks), and "look they saved a deer by blowing at it with a chopper!"
Stephen Colbert is so very sharp. I wish I could be witty like him. What usually happens with me is, stupidity builds up pressure in my brain, and then must either exit my body in farts or via words. It's very damning. Like today in Creative Writing class it was like open mouth foom the silly. I think I made the prof shudder.
Study finds that beating video games makes you feel good about yourself if you suck in real life. I guess that is true. Well, anyone who has read up on Skinner Boxes knows why video games are so addicting. Maybe that is why I don't game as often. I am horrible at video games (accidentally killing rabbits instead of petting them in WoW, etc.), possibly even suckier at them than I am at real life (quite a feat.) This is possibly due to lack of encouragement (mom always insisted they were for boys and the lazy) and lack of discipline and practice.
The article goes on to suggest that video games fulfill the human need to be validated. Makes sense. It is only scary when the real world is completely dismissed for constant in-game validation, I guess. Fragile egos don't live it up.
Enough pontificating. I told themeanypoet I'd draw her some Runaways fan art. Here is the first one. Yay. It is Nico Minoru.

::frowns:: I don't know if she looks Japanese or Goth enough. (The Staff of One is based on the design from the first few comics--the design of the bulb changes later on!) I like how the thumbnail looks but I don't know if I'm totally keen on the entire thing (especially the Nico costume design...her style is not my style at all and I didn't know what to do!) Maybe I will come back after I draw some of the other Runaways and try again. Well, lemme know what you think. [official Nico art here]
