I was just reminded by my Denver-post-sponsored skiing-related emails that one of my absolute favorite Colorado tradition thingies is coming up this Sunday: Mountaintop Matrimony.
http://www.skiloveland.com/events/wedding.aspx Basically the lucky couples get to ride the chairlift up, get married at 12,somethingsomethingsomething feet, in a mass wedding, while wearing ski-themed wedding gear, and then ski down the mountain to a party where you get beer vouchers and wedding cake. I love it, especially because it is predicated on the slogan "Marry me and ski free", as if you are getting married just to receive the 2-for-1 lift ticket.
I dunno if this is how I would like to get married (would make it somewhat hard for guests like my grandpa), should I someday engage in the social ritual of a matrimonial ceremony of some kind, but I would certainly love to do a vow renewal there. Or just take care of the legal part of the ceremony there. Either way, it is a tradition I would love to participate in someday, even if it's just as a guest! (Hint hint, FRIENDS.)
