eric, i'm totally feelin' ya - the thing that matters most is that you WENT and you feel like you gave an audition worthy of consideration! mega kudos for that.
i, in opposite fashion, chose NOT to attend a callback last week for a LEADING ROLE in a new show that's being developed in SF. there were 3 other competitors...good odds...but for many personal reasons, i decided to make the tough decision to cut myself out of the process BEFORE the callback instead of AFTER the callback. i figured if i were offered the part, then i'd have an even more difficult time turning it down cuz i had already decided that commuting to SF for rehearsals and performances for the next 4 months would be too stressful on me, my boyfriend, and my clients.
then i find out that my sister, who was one of the folks called back, got the damn part. the lead. of what will quite possibly become a well-reviewed show on its way to Broadway. she's going to be the Lea Salonga of this show. i'm so fucking jealous right now.
what pisses me off even more is that the stupid girl is still thinking about going to American Idol auditions next week. WHAT THE F*CK FOR? you have a big part to CREATE and a lot of people are counting on you, so why are you still pining for approval on a f-ing reality show? sure, it'd be a great idea to stand around the Rose Bowl for 48 hours instead of learning your lines. (well, i guess those activities aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.)
