(no subject)
Busy day today. I've got to drop my car at the dealership again. The brakes were done 4k ago, but when I had my windows down the other day enjoying the 60 degree weather I heard a slight squeeling when I'd stop. I figure I can get them to fix it for free again.
I'll take the BMW valet service to work in a new 5 series. That's always a nice feeling.
I'll probably have to work all day on some things that aren't really interesting to anyone. Moar windows patches!! yay! Had a phone interview with a competitor yesterday. They seemed nice and excited to hear from me. I'll entertain the idea of changing jobs, but I probably won't. I may use it as leverage to get myself a raise with the promotion I feel that I'm getting.
last year at this time my old boss recommended that I be promoted to senior engineer. Then she forgot, or.. whatever. She was laid off, and now it's time for the yearly performance evaluations. I showed my new boss my evaluation form from last year and how our old director had recommended that I be promoted. He seemed to be very willing to explore that. He had me review a powerpoint presentation he was giving to our executives about our team. On the first page of the presentation it had a slide with all of the team members names and titles. My title was senior engineer. I was pretty happy about that. My boss said he thought that it should happen so he's going to start to make it official.
After work today I have to do some VB programming homework for my class. It's due tonight. ugh. It shouldn't take long, but it's just silly.
After homework I'm supposed to hang out with an old coworker and have some beers.
Once I ditch him I can go see nightmares on wax at holocene. that should be great.
This weekends tasks:
attempt to not drink too much and be hungover.
read five chapters for history class
write two papers for history class
go out with one coworker and provide an alibi for his absence from his wife
go out looking for houses again and make an offer on the 78th street property if I don't find any others that i like.
sell my extra useless things on craigslist. Are two bicycles, piles of computer parts, and whatever other thing i find really worth moving again? I think not.
