Happy Thanksgiving, part deux

Nov 23, 2006 17:10

I'm pleased to report that everything turned out well. I was a bit nervous when I was making the gravy that I hadn't done a good job of washing the turkey after brining it and that it woud be a bit salty, but it was actually perfect. I swear, that is the way to go. So, SO moist!

During dinner, I suggested we go around the table, with everyone saying what they were thankful for. Chris's answer was no big surprise, but the kids' were.

Me: *thinking of Chris's hospilization this spring* I'm thankful that Daddy's healthy. Actually I'm thankful that we're ALL healthy.
Sarah: *excitedly jumping in before her turn* I'm thankful for Jesus!
Sandy: I'm thankful and saddened at the same time that we have so much in our country when other countries have so little.
No, I'm not making this up. That's what she really said. Yes, the child is a bit freaky.
Jacob: I'm thankful for Sarah, playing with me and hugging me and kissing me.
Chris: I'm thankful for this delicious beer! (We got a growler from a brewpub yesterday afternoon. As shallow as it sounds, it really was that good.)

Here's hoping that all of you are having a great day and have lots of things to be thankful for. I'm thankful for all of you wonderful flisties. I'm also thankful to LJ for giving me a lovely distraction to keep me from the dishes. *shudder*
