Day 28: A couple you shipped not nearly as long as you thought you would
Like I was getting at last time, I rarely truly abandon ship on my ships. It comes more from the fandom falling out of favor with me and that...yeah there’s so that just didn’t stick with me as long as I thought they would. They’re still there when I choose to wander back towards them and my shipping feelings tend to return though not always with the force they had when I was really INTO that particular fandom.
Sadly, while I still consider the memory of Doctor/Rose to be the ship to beat all ships, I find I don’t really...care anymore. The story did not end to my satisfaction and I know nothing is ever going to fix it, and fandom seemed to (before too long) accept it and go forward which I never really could. So I had no desire to stick with the canon under Moffat and fandom didn’t cater to my desires for long enough, so my passion for this ship kind of curled up in a corner and when next I looked it’s kind of not there so much.
Also, to this day I’m surprised how quickly my love of the Buffy-verse flared and died. I didn’t start watching the show until early s6 and to this day I haven’t seen the last few episodes of Buffy, although I did stick with Angel (more or less) until the end, and followed VS8 (with its focus on the core Scoobies and Buffy/Giles development) in that year or so, so shipping actually probably kept me in fandom a touch longer than the show itself did, but not nearly as long as I would have thought during the year or so I was super passionate about it.
