I was avoiding being agry until I came to post this...
So I went about watching some s2 TVD last night in the continued hopes of sparking my muses and I think a few have drifted back, at least a couple of plotty ones that want to toy with the plot I had started for the next fic in the TWTS/TSTWA series (that still needs a name, but my naming things muses are always among the ones with the shortest presences). But it also gave me a couple things I felt like mentioning:
-You know, Team Mystic Falls kind of has to be grateful for Rose and Trevor abducting Elena and bringing her to Elijah’s attention. Because otherwise they would have had to listen to Kat as their only clue that their threats went beyond regular vamps and werewolves out to break the Curse they thought existed. In all likelihood they wouldn’t have known Klaus was coming for them until it was too late, wouldn’t have even known Klaus existed to come for them until it was too late. Kat had already put events in motion so Klaus knew about Elena (and the other spell ingredients) so it was only a matter of time before he appeared. But because of Rose and Trevor’s attempts to save their own skin through Elijah, Team Elena muddled through better than they would have without them.
-I probably noticed it at least when I was reviewing 2x19 but I don’t think I mentioned it, but there’s a plot hole/contradiction just within that episode about that whole ‘sacrifice needs to take place at the birthplace of the doppelganger’ catch. It’s only brought up in that episode and yet in the 1492 stuff Klaus is acting like the sacrifice was going to happen just before Kat ran, and I think we’re still in England for those scenes, I suppose the whole party could have gone to Bulgaria...only no, that wouldn’t track with Kat’s story from 2x09; so yeah plot hole.
-Also, it seems to me, given what we learn in s3 that the sacrifice could always have had to take place in Mystic Falls; they could mean that it needed to take place at Tatia’s birthplace, which even further plot holes Klaus’s ‘the sacrifice happens now’ attitude in the 1492 stuff, but since it’s there either way I’m not going to throw the option out completely.
-Why yes, I did watch 2x08 and then 2x19-2x21 and then 2x22 by fast-forwarding through the Damon stuff (aside from his scene with Ric, that was allowed in my only watch the important stuff viewing). I was thinking of skipping ahead for a 3x13-3x15 viewing, but the s2 stuff seems to have sufficed to get at least some action out of my muses. I think the reason for my episode choices should be obvious.
And then I watched this week’s ep...
-Speaking of, why is there no Elijah, this show needs Elijah.
-As soon as we had the scene where mysterious lady voice calls to Elena and Elena immediately attacks owner of said voice I knew it was Kat. I mean, who else could be mysterious lady voice that Elena would attack on sight?
-But maybe Kat’s working for Elijah, because I want more Elijah.
-Though so far Elijah and Kat are the only characters s4 hasn’t really touched yet; so maybe I shouldn’t want them back, because they’d be coming back to this crap hole of a series.
-What’s this? Elena-doll is almost an actual character by having feelings about what’ll happen with Klaus in all this?
-I almost felt things during the Caroline/Tyler/Klaus plot, not enough to bother giving them any thought, but I almost felt something which is more than I can say for anything else on this god awful show.
-I assume we have one more ep before the show goes on hiatus? I guess I can make myself care for one more episode, but after that the show better bring Elijah back, have Kat back as a regular presence, or do something else to shake up the status quo, because as is I’m on my last dregs of give-a-crap.
-Sigh, two years ago at this time I was just getting into the show, last year the show had just sucked me in big time by giving me an impossible ship I nevertheless rooted for, now I’m virtually done. I wish I could say it was fun while it lasted, but it really hasn’t been for a while now.
-So I’ll go back and live in a land before the yuck that is s4 happened, and hope for the day the show pretends it’s all a bad dream too. I may *keep watching* for certain things they could do in the here and now (return of Elijah, etc.) but they only thing that will get me to forgive is if it all goes away.
I wish I cared enough to be depressed that that probably won’t happen.
