Short thoughts on TVD 4x10
So I finally decided to go ahead and watch TVD. Basically until the show kills this sire bond thing dead (and preferably Damon with it) I hate everything about it.
So yeah, I hated it.
I don’t feel like going on another rant about how NOTHING ELENA SAYS ABOUT DAMON MATTERS while she’s sired to him. Tyler’s ‘it doesn’t make you feel a certain way’ is CRAP, because it DID make him basically love Klaus at first; it was only when the hate became SO STRONG that he was able to have his own feelings again. Also this is vampire sire bond not hybrid sire bond so boo on you again.
However, I will say that this episode should basically kill the Triangle if any of these people acted like real people. Stefan’s behavior here makes it clear that his pain matters more to him than anything else (if he did forget all about Elena he’d stop fighting to free her from the sire bond, for example). Damon deciding to exercise the sire bond I read as him knowing that she’s not going to forgive him for ANY of what’s happening once they have the cure so he’s in or a penny in for a pound (it’s still gross, let’s not forget to say that). And Elena...well Elena isn’t a character anymore, she’s just a doll to spout stupid lines to effect the men with manpain around her, but both of the trolls are totally treating her as that doll (not just the writers) so I would hope that when she does get to be a character again she would consider both of them to be utterly gross in the way they’ve acted during all this.
Let’s see, that standard RAGE addressed, what else can I say?
For once there was a lot heavily involving the Originals and I totally get why no one is calling Elijah (though I could have used some name dropping). No way would he be Rebekah’s wingman in this plot, nor would he go along with Klaus’s (certainly either of them could be sure he’d go along with it and he could really cause problems for them if he didn’t, and he probably wouldn’t).
Although seeing as Rebekah NOW remembers she has other brothers I’m guessing the writers are abandoning her loneliness arc. Pity, that had such potential if it didn’t rely on forgetting the rest of the family.
My tiny inner Kol/Jeremy shipper (Originals/stalking high schoolers) has decided that Kol’s hair cut is expressing his deeps seeded pain for the loss of his bro Jeremy.
I’m trying to check IMDB for why Bonnie’s dad looks so familiar but he’s not listed. But wait...IMDB lists Elijah as being in this episode. IMDB has both failed me AND teased me with things I can’t have. Anyway, Bonnie’s dad looks familiar, hopefully he’ll be around for a few episodes at least AND we’ll get some good Bonnie stuff out of it; on the other hand casting a familiar actor probably means he’s not around for the long term and the show really likes killing these kids’ parents so I’m not counting on it.
I wish Elena was still a character on this show.
