moon_blitz gave me Firefly, Merlin, Stargate SG-1 and Torchwood,
Firefly: Kaylee Frye
I do have to put a caveat on most of my Firefly opinions that they are *seriously* shaped by the roleplaying game that pulled me into the show. It was set in the Star Wars universe but some really obvious parallels to the Firefly characters is what got all of us to watch it ultimately. And my character *was* Kaylee (although Kaylee had less angst) so of course I love her the most.
Runner up: Zoe
Merlin: Uther Pendragon
Partly because it’s Tony Head who I have absolutely loved since Buffy days, and partly I just think Uther is the most interesting character on the show. The younger mains are all a jumbled mess which order I like them in at and given time but Uther is always a step apart. I *know* he’s not a good man, and I’m normally all over the heroes first, but I still love him. I also keep feeling like the show hasn’t done a great job showing us why Uther is necessarily wrong on his view of magic. Prejudiced and cruel yeah, but we’ve seen some pretty powerful and destructive magic users on the show, so isn’t he a little justified in being paranoid about them.
Runner up: probably Morgana
SG-1: Daniel Jackson
As will come as a surprise to absolutely no one Daniel is by heads and shoulders my favorite SG-1 character. I pretty much fell in love with him in the first episode and never looked back. I think him being the civilian of the main cast helps a lot, because the rest of them are warriors first and Daniel…isn’t. Even as he becomes more of a warrior I still would never define him as one. He is driven by other ideals and I love him for that.
Runner up: Sam and Jack
Torchwood: Jack Harkness
This one was *hard* because the Torchwooders just…have a hard time sticking to one ranking in my opinion. My opinion on them varies with like each episode it seems, but the longest streak I can remember was Jack. Of course at the beginning it was easily Jack because I already knew Jack as opposed to the rest of them but it also took a long time for each of them to grow on me so Jack still gets this spot. But then to be frank I suppose the Jack I love is really Doctor Who-Jack, Torchwood-model-Jack on his own probably wouldn’t get the top spot.
