HA! sweet freedom!
this morning was the last day I had to traverse Cranseville tossing papers, and I couldn't be happier!
The disgusting fatbody who is allegedly taking over my route didn't show for me to drive him around, so I bet he'll screw up really badly. But that's ok! Because it's not my responsibility! in other words: CONTRACT FUCKING TERMINATED, BITCHES!
I am sad, however, as one older lady (who happened to be one of my best customers, always paying on time, always a nice tip, always polite) gave me an extra $10 for college today when I went to pick up her last payment. I feel bad that she's probably going to have terrible service now, and have to deal with a real jackass...
It gives me hope for humanity, though, that as I was going down her steps, she called me back and asked me to wait for a second. She went into her house, and returned with a crisp ten-dollar bill. Taking my hands, she gave me the bill and said, slowly and with conviction: "good luck, be careful." I thanked her profusely and went on my way... I've talked to this woman maybe 5 times in my life, only when she called to say that she was leaving her payment out in her mailbox so I'd know it was there... yet she sincerely and honestly, even earnestly, admonished me to be careful and wished me luck, as if I were her own son leaving home.
Needless to say, it touched me deeply...
Thank you, Mrs. Brach, you've proven that Amsterdam does indeed have a soul after all.
