CHAPTER 12- MISCHIEVOUS SHUN
“Are you in love with someone now Junji?”
Matsumoto Jun can’t stop thinking about those words uttered by their leader, Satoshi Ohno. He can’t believe Ohno thought about something like that and he even used his other nickname, Junji, which they seldom use. He smiled despite himself.
In love? Him? That’s impossible. He’s just happy. That’s what Jun was thinking.
Demo…
Why is he feeling so happy?
Jun’s thoughts drifted towards the dinner at Shun’s house the other night. He was finally able to apologize to Mao for how he acted when they first met. That’s it! That’s why he’s happy. He was finally able to justify his actions. He was so damn nervous that time. His heartbeats were faster than they normally should. That was the first time he felt that way.
Come to think of it, he was really confused at that time. Why on earth was he feeling that way over a simple matter as saying “I’m sorry”. It’s not like Mao is a very important person, isn’t she? Once again, Ohno’s words echoed on Jun’s mind.
“Are you in love with someone now Junji?”
Love?
Could it really be love? Is it possible that he, Arashi’s DoS, had indeed fallen in love? Jun’s thoughts were interrupted when he heard somebody calling his name.
“Matsumoto-san? Matsumoto-san?”
Jun blinked. His thoughts drifted back to the present.
Ahh.. He almost forgot he was in the middle of a photoshoot which is so unlikely of him. He looked towards the guy who was calling his name and saw a confused expression on his face. The guy must have been calling his attention for quite some time now. He stood up and started walking. It was then that he realized that he was still smiling so he slowly went back to being his more known DoS self before anyone else notices.
“What the hell’s happening to you Matsumoto?” Jun could only say to himself.

“Shun-kun?!?” Mao exclaimed. She was about to leave his boss’ office when the door opened up as Oguri Shun stepped inside.
“Mao-chan?” an equally surprised Shun cried.
“Eh? You two knew each other?” Abe Tsuyoshi, Mao’s boss, asked in amazement.
“Yes! Mao-chan here is one of my longest close friends.” Shun answered as he approached Abe and Mao.
Abe looked at Mao, asking for confirmation which the latter gave with a simple nod.
Mao checked her watch. It’s almost 4 in the afternoon.
“I’d better get going.” She said to no one in particular. She gave a small bow to the two gentlemen in the room and left.
“So.. You’ve finally decided to show yourself to me huh?” Abe said the moment Mao had closed the door.
Shun went to face his friend. “Well, it wasn’t my fault we didn’t see each other until now. If only you attended my party then we should have met already and you won’t be surprised anymore that Mao-chan and I knew each other.” He accused.
“Alright! Alright! It’s my fault then.” Abe admitted. “So, what made you come back here? It’s not because of a woman right?” Abe said meaningfully as he eyed the door of his office. Shun raised his eyebrows upon hearing his friend’s words.
“If you’re thinking that there’s something more than friendship between Mao-chan and I, then you’re wrong. We are just friends and besides I didn’t go home for a woman. Dad asked me to. He said it’s about time for me to train because he’s planning to pass the management of our business to me.” Shun replied.
“Why do I sense that you are against it?” Abe asked Shun.
Shun let out a sigh. “I’m not totally against it. It’s just that I still haven’t figured out what I really want to do.”
“Then find out what you really want before it’s too late.” Abe advised.
“I do hope that’s as easy as it sounds.” Shun sadly replied. “Oh! By the way, I have some interesting news for you.” He added with a mischievous smile this time.
“What is it?” Abe asked.
Shun took a quick glance towards the door of Abe’s office. “Alas, I think this is not the most convenient place to talk about it.”
Abe gave Shun a questioning look.
“Then meet me later at around 8pm at Ichigo bar I bet Shota’s keen to meet you as well.” Abe said referring to the owner of the said bar, Matsuda Shota, a close friend of them as well.
“That sounds good. Hmm.. I’ll leave you for now then. Ja ne!” Shun said and he started to walk towards the door.
“Oh wait! If you could, try to bring Jun along too. It will be nice if the four of us could meet up again and talk.” Abe suggested.
Shun turned and faced him flashing his mischievous grin once again.
“That would be nice but I’m afraid we’ll have to postpone that for another night. As much as Jun-kun likes being the center of attraction most of the time, I bet he won’t like that position tonight. So it’s better to leave him out of it for the moment. But, if it’s alright, I’ll be tagging someone else along with me.” Shun declared and before Abe could utter another word and react, he had opened the door and left, leaving a bewildered Abe alone in his office.
“What the hell was that all about?” was all Abe could say. He continued staring at the doorway thinking through what Shun had just said. He bolted up straight on his chair as realization struck him. So the thing Shun wants to talk to him about is somewhat connected to Jun. Abe got really curious and excited to find out what that is.
But first….
Abe picked up his cellphone and dialed Matsuda Shota’s number. The latter picked up after just one ring.
“Shota-kun. We need to talk.”

Mao had been throwing glances at his boss’ office for quite some time now when finally Shun got out of it. She checked her watch, she still have a few minutes to spare so she stood from her desk and approached him.
“How come you and Tsuyoshi-san knew each other?” Mao inquired, stopping Shun on his tracks.
“You’re a curious fella, aren’t you? Well, we met each other at London 2 years ago. He was with another friend of his, Matsuda Shota. They were having a vacation at that time. I first encountered them at a local shop where they are having a hard time talking to a saleslady so, being a naturally kind and helpful person, I helped them out. But it was later in the evening that I got to talk to them at a club where we also got to meet another fellow countryman of ours by the name of Matsumoto Jun. And that’s how our friendship started - me, Jun, Abe and Shota.” Shun replied with a soft smile on his lips as he recalled that day as well.
“How come you never told me?” Mao asked again.
“I never thought that you would know him and that you’re working for his company. I guess it’s true that the world is indeed a small one. People are connected with each other even in the smallest of things and we met each other for a reason.” Shun said. With his mischievous grin flashing once again, he added, “Look at you and Jun. You met each other without knowing that you are somewhat connected and that connection is me. But who knows? Maybe there’s another reason why you two met.” With that Shun started walking away once again.
“Wha…??” Mao was about to call Shun back when she noticed that it’s almost 5pm so she decided to let him go and went back to her chair to finish her work.
“…Maybe there’s another reason why you two met.”
“What was that suppose to mean?” Mao asked herself as she sat back on her desk. She was about to let her curiosity take up her mind when she realized she still have lots of things to do so she shook off Shun’s words and focused on the work in front of her.
