conflicted. don't have a problem with massu being popular except it seems like the reason he's popular now because a well known overrated author suddenly took interest in him.

That alone makes the well-known "overrated" author cool in my book. Half of NEWS fandom has been complaining for years that nobody writes Massu as anything other than a food-obsessed airhead, I only wish someone had thought of a Massu-based event to fix that sooner.

yeah, except that said author writes Massu as exactly that and nothing else, having said repeatedly in the past that she's not concerned with characterization and couldn't care less about getting it right.

but they're all part of her mindless sheep posse, and the reason why they even know who massu is (or care for him now) is because of her. chances are, they're taking their cues from her, so it's just going to be one giant clusterfuck of OOC fic.

yeah and so have I, so it's doubly annoying to me when people who only know him because of her decide to jump on the bandwagon when they only know him because of her shitfic. I'm generalizing because the majority of her friends are sheep and I have yet to see anything disproving this.

seeing as how said event hasn't posted yet, you're assuming that the people signed up aren't going to continue to write him as a food-obsessed airhead. i realize this means i assume that they are, which is completely unfair, but the reason i find said overrated author overrated is that her characterisation tends to be quite shit. as i said, conflicted; conflict remains to be resolved at a later date.

If you mean people suddenly want to write Massu because the author you mentioned is running the event, I personally didn't join because of that. I've been writing Massu for years. People just seemed to be less interested in him and like it more when I write pairings like RyoShige. :/

sorry anon, i won't be stating the name out and out here so that i have a little bit of reasonable doubt as a buffer. it's my opinion that she's overrated; the perk of being well rated and well known is having a number of fans who will gladly tell people like me to stfu, or worse, for saying as much. but if you look at the comments above, there's not much extra leg work you have to do to find out.
