i need to eat some brains.
so, today i was called an orientalist who is unable to look at asian art from a non-western point of view by another art history grad student. whatEVER. i'm allowed to not like some anime and anime characters. i mean, i like some anime but i'm just not obsessed with it anymore and i don't think it's japan's highest art form.
man, if i were a zombie that could think, you better believe i would have eaten that chick's brains.
tomorrow i'm giving a presentation on this relic i've been looking at in my seminar. this quarter is the first time i've ever actually TOUCHED old art before and it's completely awesome. it's a small ceramic piece from nepal (i think?...) depicting vajravarahi doing her dance with lots of fire. i think there might be human ashes mixed in with the clay since it's a relic and that's cool. i'm kind of nervous about the presentation because there are so many senior grad students in my class and i'm one of the few ones who is a first year who's still on her masters.
for the past few weeks, joel has decided that he needed to grow a mustache which is gross. he applied for this campus cop position and thought that it would be good for the interview. i will never understand how his mind works sometimes. he made it to the second round of interviews and now we're waiting for the third so send your good vibes and feelings our way...we need it. (>_<)
he shaved it off on friday so now i can kiss him again and it's very nice coming home to a guy who doesn't look like a state trooper.
the kitties are getting BIG and leif definitely needs to be neutered. the OSU vet clinic won't give him his rabies shot until he is at least 6 months old and he can't be neutered until he has his shot. this is the first time i've ever had a boy cat before and it's kind of weird watching his ch-ch-ch-changes! he's full of hormones, i assume. he keeps trying to mount basil which results in basil kicking leif's little fuzzy butt and walks around the house howling and howling. it's very weird. i don't want him to get in the habit of spraying or anything, so hopefully he can get neutered before that happens. leif has also turned into a one-person-only cat. he loves to be held like a baby by me and closes his eyes and purrrrrs. he won't let joel hold him at all. he also likes to sleep with us and get in between joel and me. hmmm....
basil is a little dear although he's taken to howling at 5 am for breakfast lately and digging up our carpet. that's not cool. annie likes sleep and she likes her deposit. he's still a crazy cat and tries to spider-climb the walls. still can't do it. i think he's waiting to be bitten by a radioactive spider or something.
i've got midterms next week and then i'm going to be really cramped for the rest of the term...but then i will have finished a whole year!! yay! i get a whole week of summer vacation then i have to do my summer term. boo. i hope i meet some cool people.
