Back into the deep freeze

Well that very brief period of less cold weather is over and we're back to it being really cold with crazy wind chill. It's -24 right now with the wind chill and very dry. My skin is not very happy with me, it's very dry and itchy. It was nice to have a break from that this weekend with some slightly warmer weather. We got some more snow as well so the roads were a bit of a mess but that's pretty much all cleared up now. The rit on Saturday went really well. No one else volunteered to make bread so I decided I would try my hand at it. It turned out pretty well I thought, a little bland, but I managed to braid it so it was a really nice shape. I'm thinking of making pizza dough from scratch at some point later this week, it can't be any harder.

Today I went into Nashwaaksis Memorial to meet with the principal and a teacher there about volunteering in a 3/4 split class. I ended up observing in the classroom for a while and we've worked out that I'll go in on Monday and Thursday mornings as long as I'm not supplying. I'm hoping the supply work will start to pick up now that I've had two half days at Royal Road and quite a few people seem to be getting sick. Not that I want people to be sick, but I would like to work more often. Substituting is hard though. I have to be pretty strict and mean and I really don't like having to police the whole time, I'd rather teach.

So I've lived here for over a month now, kind of hard to believe. I'm starting to get into a bit of a routine, especially on the days that I'm volunteering, getting up, going to school, coming home, doing dishes, showering, cleaning anything that needs cleaning, it's weird doing the house wife thing, but I'm not minding it as much anymore. I think being out at the schools and seeing people helps me feel a little less like a hermit.

Cynthia's planning to go to Halifax this weekend and I'm hoping to go with her. Tony's probably going to stay here, he might have to work and he thinks he'll need the weekend alone because he'll be going off the medication that's helping him quit smoking. I just need to find a way up to Sussex or Saint John so that Cynthia doesn't have to drive as far. I was looking at the bus schedule, it's not too expensive but they only run at kind of awkward times. I'll see what I can do. It'll be nice to see everyone so Orenda, Greg, Leah, if you have some free time, I'd love to see you, maybe go for some Mamoya and wander to the usual places downtown?

I'm going to go watch the wind for a bit.
