I am still looking for several ingredients here to make my pie work, without assistance from America. I am not sure but there don't seem to be graham crackers here...unless you found some. Those were sent by my sister, arrived in pieces, which isn't that bad, since I have to smash them into crumbs. Any suggestions on a suitable replacement!?
The key lime joice cannot be replaced with anything sold in Germany. My sister lives in Florida and sent me several bottles. She told me that she sent a carton to her in-laws and I am considering having her do the same for me. Someone suggested I just use regular lime juice...but I don't think it will have the same taste. There is a difference between lemons and limes...there has to be a difference between key limes and regular limes other than their shapes and where they grow. Maybe I can scrounch up some seeds and grow my own key lime tree or bush or whatever they grow on. he he
My ingredients are 4 egg yolks, 14 ounces of sweetened condensed milk (called Mädchen milch here) a cup of key lime juice and a graham cracker pie crust which requires 1 1/2 cups fine graham cracker crumbs, 125 grams of butter (was able to convert) and sugar.
