*BURP! BURP! BURP! Westchester County has been issued a severe winter weather advisory in effect through 6pm tomorrow. Expect snow accumulations of 8-12 inches by daybreak. Stay tuned to...*
Jean switched off the bedroom television and turned to her fiancé. “Do you think the Professor will cancel your mission tomorrow with all this snow?”
Scott had just returned from making his evening rounds about the dormitories, his assumed responsibility as team leader. Convinced everyone was settled in for the night, both Scott and Jean prepared to turn in for the night.
“My mission with Logan?” He said, unlatching his watch and placing it on the dresser, just as he did every night. “I’m not that lucky.”
“You know the Professor. Male-bonding through obligatory teamwork,” she pointed out while turning down the bed, already dressed in a red silk nightie. “Where’s the mission this time?”
“New York City,” he replied, removing his wallet from his pocket and placing it beside his watch. “Some guy paints the future. The Professor thinks he’ll be an asset to the team.”
She’d sensed the doubt in his voice. While sliding under the covers she gently prodded, “You don’t agree?”
“It’s not what I’d call a battle-friendly power.” He smirked at her while unbuttoning his maroon collared shirt, all the while admiring the look of his fiancé in their bed. “But I’m willing to talk to the guy and see if there’s anything the Institute can offer him.”
“I’m sure we could fine something here for him, even if it’s teaching art. Lord knows Logan’s not really the art teacher, regardless of what he tells the students’ parents,” she concluded with a smile.
“You should have seen Logan’s reaction when the Professor told him who we’re recruiting.” Scott mused as he unbuckled his belt and stepped out of his dress pants to reveal his plaid boxers. “It went something along the lines of ‘Even Goodie-Two-Shoes Summers doesn’t need backup against a mutant whose only weapon is a paintbrush.’”
“Typical Logan.” Jean laughed. “You know, there may actually be a compliment in there somewhere.”
“I still don’t want to go,” he said decisively. Still in his boxers, Scott sat on the bed facing his fiancé. Taking a piece of her flaming red hair, he curled it loosely around his finger, admiring its silky feel. Suggestively he murmured, “Besides, I’d much rather spend all day in bed with you.”
Succumbing the temptation to kiss her, he softly placed his lips over hers, holding them against his to savor the moment as he always did. His hands buried themselves in her hair as he angled their heads to deeper the kiss, if only for a moment.
When they released, Jean spoke with amusement dancing in her eyes. “I know how you can get your mission cancelled.”
“Oh?” Scott’s interest was peaked but his thoughts were on the beauty of the woman before him. Slowly, he began a trail of kisses from her ear down her long, slender neck.
“Yeah,” she purred. Her smile widened as he kissed her tenderly, making her long for his lips to roam lower. “As a child I would always have a snow day off school if I slept with my pajamas inside out and backwards.”
Slowly making his way around to her other ear, he seductively whispered. “Who says I’ll be wearing pajamas?”
