Since I'm home sick, and not doing much of anytyhing, I thought I'd write up a TV Watching Update
2011 Emmy Awards
Why do the Emmys always make me cringe? I thought Jane Lynch was a decent host, but the musical numbers, the Jersey spoof, and the "Emmytones" (OMG, the worst!) were awful. Who gets paid to come up with this crap? And why is it even

I tried to watch the Emmys, but I thought it was awful from the start, and when the Emmytones showed up, I bailed. I followed along on Twitter instead, and went back later to FF to the parts that sounded good. I was over the moon about Kyle Chandler (!!!), Peter Dinklage and Margo Martindale.
I'm not a fashion person, but I thought Nina Dobrev was breathtaking. She always looks stunning on the red carpet. She either has great taste or a great stylist. :)
I detest Eddie Cibrian, and I don't buy what all the actresses on The Playboy Club have been saying in interviews, that the show is all about female empowerment. *rolls eyes* The premise just doesn't interest me at all.
I watched all of Glee, but the only part I truly enjoyed was Darren Criss's It's Not Unusual number. Lea Michele continues to make me want to throw things, on and off the show.
Ringer made me laugh. There were so many moments of manufactured suspense, where you were supposed to think Bridget was going to get caught, that it became ridiculous. Not to mention the plot holes you could drive a truck through. I still like SMG, though, and I love Ioan Gruffudd, so I'll keep watching for now. It was so bizarre that they chose that old Lifehouse song to play during Bridget's scene with Juliet. I had a major Smallville flashback.
I like Zooey Deschanel, too, and I was charmed by New Girl, but I totally get what you're saying about it not being that funny. I think Damon Wayans Jr. is a huge loss, but I'll continue to tune in to see how the other characters develop.
I marathoned this season of True Blood, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. I liked the bloodbath the finale turned out to be, and I, too, hope Tara is dead, although they've already confirmed the actress is in S5. Loved Alcide altogether (and especially with Sam), so much that I want him to stay far away from Sookie. He deserves better. And yes, Eric is definitely the hottest.
I saw the screener version of Revenge first, and Marc Blucas played Amanda's dad in that one. I vastly preferred him, but evidently he had a conflict because of Necessary Roughness, and they decided he was too young anyway (which makes me think they intend to have the character show up, not dead after all, in the present timeline). I loved Revenge, and I was happy to see it held its own against the considerable competition in the ratings.
The one thing that has been a revelation to me with the start of this new season is how little I care about any show that doesn't have Tom Welling in it. I knew I would miss him, but I never anticipated how much.

Nina Dobrev looked amazing. Why is she going out with that smirky dude? LOL
Eddie Cibrian is very detestable. Its a shame, he didn't use to be. I loved him on that alien invasion show that only lasted a year. But now I can't stand his face. And I truly do think his casting hurt the show overall, because he's got a lot of haters out there.
I find Lea Michele incredibly irritating. And now my irritation for Rachel has extended to Kurt. And I've never liked Finn. Its sort of hard to enjoy Glee when the characters you watch for are Quinn, Puck, Tina, Mike, Santana and Brittney. And I do like Darren Criss, but Blaine is such a Gary Stu. They need to make him a real boy one of these days.
Personally, I want to know how tiny little SMG managed to get the dead weight of a grown man into a trunk. And then when she's scrubbing the blood on the floor, and no one is noticing? Its dumb. And dumb isn't necessarily a bad thing, if the show had a bit more fun with itself. But it doesn't. It takes itself as serious as a heart attack.
Sookie and Alcide don't work for me at all. And you know she's eventually going to be back with Eric or Bill anyway, so why bother going there?
I actually really like the actor that played Amanda's dad on Revenge, James Tupper. I think he's so handsome. So, it he's coming back, I'm very pleased with that. And I really thought the childhood friend was cute. I'm interested to see more of him. But the show just clicked for me. I'm excited to see it next week.
I think when you really get excited about an actor in a show, and you watch him for years, and then that goes away, its a big letdown. Because nothing equals that intensity. Hopefully, someone will come along that will light that spark again, for both of us.
