LJ Challenge: Day 11

Jul 11, 2010 17:14

I'm getting my posting in early because my little netbook bit the dust and I don't think I'll be able to do my standard "update while Sarah sleeps" thing....

Today we had Jacob's promised summer party at Leakin Park. (Party in a very loose sense since there were only a couple of friends there, but I promised him ages ago that we would go for his birthday)

It's a great little place that has free mini-train the second sunday of every months from April through September or October. There are also nice trails, tennis courts and a fun playground.

Even though it was a very impromptu thing, I made Krabby Patty cupcakes for the occasion. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4558174&id=595692077&saved#!/photo.php?pid=4558174&id=595692077 (if you have never had the misfortune of seeing Sponge Bob Squarepants, a Krabby Patty is basically a hamburger. The kids each made their own and it was a big hit. I would absolutely do it again for a Sponge Bob themed party.

The weather was perfect. Sunny, warm, but not too hot. We had picnic tables for the first hour, and then got kicked off for a party that had actually *reserved* them. Oops. But all went well - we just moved to the grass atop our Sponge Bob table cloth to assemble the cupcakey goodness.

Hillel left for Colorado today. So it's back to situation normal.

I'm looking forward to having Jacob and Mali home this week. No camp for them, only for Alexander and Sarah MWF. I plan to take them to see a couple of movies. I want to see Karate Kid and they're dying to see the Last Airbender, so we'll catch the $5 before noon shows @ AMC. I also have a coupon for a couple free rounds of indoor mini golf. Woot!
