Confession time, before I get into the movie, which I just got back from watching: the crossover fic I have longed for for quite some time now is Merlin/Narnia. Not one of those fics where they somehow exist in the same world and the characters meet each other like you get on ff.net (which I, erm, have certainly never searched for *cough*), but a Merlin!reincarnation fic that takes place in the forties. Where! Summary time! "Merlin thinks he's finally found the king he's been dreaming about his whole life when his new neighbours move into the flat down the hall. Peter Pevensie takes Merlin's declarations that he's the Once and Future King in his stride. Peter's flatmate Arthur, on the other hand, just thinks Merlin's really odd."
Aaand...I'm not sure what happens after that. Yeah. Umm. Also, I haven't watched a single episode of Merlin series 3. I should get to that sometime.
Now, onto
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader!
I really, really, really want Eustace-Reepicheep roadtrip fic now. Which, granted, you might call tVotDT, but I want more! Like, when they meet up again in Aslan's Country, they go off exploring together! (I pondered Jill going along for the ride, but my mind takes her off on her own adventures, with possibly Tirian tagging along because, idk, he has a crush on her or something. Which is weird, mind, because I've never shipped Jill/Tirian.) They were very much my favorite part of the movie. Will Poulter was fantastic as Eustace (and they kept a slightly rewritten version of the first line of the book in! \o/) with just the right amount of smug-and-bastard-ness that still somehow kept you from outright hating him, and Simon Pegg was, well, Reep!
Nitpick: CASPIAN! Edmund and Lucy are not the High King and Queen of Narnia. >:| Peter is High King over all Kings and Queens of Narnia, not any of his siblings. If Edmund was High King, then it wouldn't matter a damn bit if Caspian was the current king, Ed would be above him in rank and could command anyone he damn well pleased. But he's not, so he isn't.
Speaking of Lucy and being queen, though, hell yeah, there's the motherfucking Queen Lucy the Valiant! I was so :D :D :D over Lucy fighting along with the guys, when in the last movie it was Susan who was the asskicker of the two. This is the Lucy who would ride to war when she was still a queen in Narnia's Golden Age. Yay!
Also, Georgie is growing up to be so beautiful! Awwww! (Look at little Georgie in my icon and compare her to how big she's gotten! And speaking of, I need newer icons!)
I am amused at the amount of Edmund and Caspian-ness and await the deluge of slash fic between the two with a wary eye. (Personally, I don't think they had much chemistry together, but that's just me, and you know fandom.)
In conclusion: I enjoyed the movie. Not as much as the first, but very much more than the second. I think the first had a feeling of magic and emotion to it that the third one could have used a bit more of. Also, I tried to figure out what was different about Caspian this time around, and it took me a bit of time to realize it was because he didn't have his Inigo Montoya accent anymore.
Now, I'm sleepy, so I'm off to bed soon. Night!
