hold up, brain, hold up
I had a really odd moment the other day. I was talking with my younger cousin about Terminator Salvation, since we're planning on watching it this weekend (three-day weekend ftw!). So I was, like, "Oh, and Anton Yelchin, you know, Chekov from the Star Trek movie, is in it. He's Kyle Reese." And she goes, "Oh! The brother!"
And my brain just totally froze at that, because wow. It has never occured to me before that there are people out there who simply view Kyle Reese as Derek's brother. I mean, yes, that's the relationship, but. I don't know, I guess it just never crossed my mind that there are people out there who got into the universe through SCC and not really through the movies, and so that's where their affection for the characters lie. And it's weird, because I knew that with the lead up to the Star Trek movie (oh man, how many fandomsecrets were there of that? yeah, exactly), but like I said, it never once crossed my mind that the same would hold for Terminator.
