Haven't done one of these in a long time, have I? Well, to be honest, haven't watched old school Who in too long a time, really. Burnt out a bit and needed to step back and give myself some breathing room before I dove back in. And now I'm back to feeling the love just like before, so I've decided to continue on my way through the Third Doctor's serials. I've been watching pretty much one episode a night for the past couple of weeks, which means it's got me through The Ambassadors of Death and Inferno. So. TAoD was pretty ehh for me, but Inferno!
Oh goodness me, Inferno! How...seriously, how awesome is Inferno? Just really, really, really awesome. The first couple of episodes before the Doctor got to the parallel world were kinda slow, and I still have no idea, really, what the deal with the mosters were (other than they came about because of contact to the green stuff), but who cares about that part? There was parallel worlds! Different from the other one you can tell at first because of the eyepatched Brig! There was a "there but for the grace of God*" scenario to the whole thing! And it's silly, I know, because I knew all of these things going into the serial, but knowing and seeing are two different things, right?
And there's also the awesomely awesome characters that I'm squeeing over. I don't think, really, I don't think anything in Who is as hot as Section Leader Elizabeth Shaw. OH MY GOD. Seriously. Apparently, hot women in uniform who kick ass and aren't afraid to shoot their fucking Brigade Leader is a kink of mine or something. I mean, yeah, I love Liz (I am so sad that this is her last serial), but parallel!Liz was just pure awesome. And the Brigade Leader! Sutton and Petra! OMG Sutton and Petra, I heart them so! Seriously, I don't get into guest characters that much, but Sutton and Petra I loved to an insane degree. Dude. I ship them. I ship them so hard.
Oh my goodness, I love this serial so much! And tomorrow I move on to the Jo years, finally!
*Yes, very deliberate reference, I kept thinking of the SG-1 episode as I was watching it, heh.
