Silly me has a new one Cooking with Jean C which will be for newbie cooks and those afraid of the kitchen :D Cooking school will commence in a few days once I figure out what I've gotten myself into :P
My intended audience is pretty much anyone who is new to cooking for whatever reason. I'm figuring there are enough people who are interested, but for what ever reason (no one taught them how to get around in the kitchen, they were thrown in the thick of things by a highly experienced cook who couldn't explain things and now they are unsure of who, what and where, or someone who has a vague idea, but is now out on their own) aren't too sure about being in the kitchen and ordering takeout is so much easier. I want to do what the SemiHo does, only better, with the idea of eventually working people towards, say, making pilaf from scratch, instead of breaking out the box stuff (which I love, it is nice and convenient, but there are days when I want that and days when I want to do it from scratch).
If you don't know who the SemiHo is, count yourself extremely lucky. Her name is Sandra Lee and she has a show on Food Network called Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee and the show is a complete horror. I can't make it thru a complete episode without 1)throwing up and 2) wanting to throw something heavy at the TV. On the face of things, her recipes look okay, but by the time she gets done not only have you spent more time and money then if you'd whipped it up from scratch, she comes acorss as a total shill for the food companies (at least they finally made her stop promoting specific products for each recipe, both on the show and on the FN site for her "show). Most of the time she spends primping and mugging for the camera as if to say "se how pretty I am, I've got boobies!" GACK!!!!!
