ack. ack. this is me completely dumbfounded. Thats amazing. Scary but amazing. I'm working on a story that ties in with A2A and faking Sam's death but it's going a completely different direction so this just amazed me. You are a certifiable genius at this.

*blushes* thank you so much, I was worried about the reaction this might get (seeing as it's on the opposite side of the spectrum to the fluff I usually write) so I'm really happy that it worked for you.

I love reading fic that work around A2A cannon and keep Sam so I'll be sure to keep an eye out for yous ^_^

Oh. my. god. This was... Gene's insane!!! His love made him absolutely insane!!! And yet, it's kind of lovely. Wow. This really...oh my god...the twist from romantic angst to romantic crrrraaazzzy angst...poor sam! He must have been a wreck--they both were! And him asking if he can go outside for 1 day *bawls* *hyperventilates* *mems* Gene could let him! He probably has a big back garden...

(p.s. I love that we both have decided to characterize the missus as a lesbian. LOL)

thank you very much! I'm really glad you liked all the angst.

romantic!crazy is good right? ;)

as for missus as a lesbian (LOL) I think it was actually suggested in A2A cannon somewhere but I really like the idea so I tend to insert it where I can. (I really do love the Phyllis/Missus ship that floats by the comm occasionally!)

One person's 'good' is another person's batshit insane... LOL

Just reread--still have the same gut-twisting reaction. (yes, it's good.)

The whole thing, but this part especially...

To say that Sam was unenthusiastic would have been more than a slight understatement. The man had tried everything at his disposal to get Gene to let him out of the house. Yelling, cursing, crying and fighting even seduction and guilt. Sam tried it all but Gene wouldn't budge.I would love to see extended b/c it hits everyone of my angst-buttons. Sam begging, probably on his knees (score!), tugging Gene's shirt (double score), offering sexual favors (triple score!)... And it all probably breaking Gene's heart, but he's sticking to his guns because he thinks he knows what has to be done. I loved how you tied in Stu in giving Gene a 'logical' reason for behaving as he does, and also showing that his past has really fucked him up to the point that he won't allow the people he loves to have any say in their own lives ( ... )

Thanks again, I'm flattered that you'd reread this.

I wondered why he wouldn't have told one of his friends about Sam while he was in the hospital. He doesn't trust any of them anymore? Could tell Alex...she'd just think the whole thing was in her imagination anyway! LOL (or was she not there yet?)

Tricky question o_O.
The way I see it the first thing Gene would have found out after his accident was how long he was going to be at the hospital. Since he knew Sam had enough food to get him through that week he would have seen no reason to destroy all the work he had already set up to "protect" him. He wouldn't have even thought his absence matter to Sam (who at that point wasn't talking to him) but even if he did he wasn't exactly a stranger to the "cruel to be kind" philosophy. Alex she arrives a little bit later (after Gene replaces the Cortina with the Quattro).

As for the scene you mentioned, I don't really have any plans to extend it at this point but I wont definitely say no. ;)

I'm w/ walkerbaby re: the ack, ack, ack! That's just so twisted... correct, but twisted. I love the Gene Genie, but sometimes he thinks a little tangentally.

Well if I helped to inspire this at all then YAY!! You did an amazing job with this, it is heartbreaking in a really warm sort of way. My favorite part is the end, where Gene is sure that Sam will be gone because the door is unlocked, yet there is Sam, at the sofa, curled up and reading a book.

This is really so gorgeous, I am glad you kept whatever prompt it was for yourself! (though really, if you wanna give me another, you know I'm game, haha!)

Thank you :) I'm realy glad you liked it. The prompt was going to be crack!fic, A2A compliant, with Gene faking Sam's death to keep him as a sex slave but when I started thinking about it, it kinda evolved into this lol.

Oh, and I'll be thinking up another prompt to replace it ;) don't worry about that.
