Spring comes with a lot of symbolism such as rebirth and renewal.
The earth is shaking off the last vestiges of winter and nature begins to brighten with signs of new life -- flowers bloom, eggs hatch and the days are warmer, brighter.
For us, Spring is a good time to begin new projects and give birth to new ideas. It seems fitting, then, that I am starting work on a new book now, even if that new book takes place in a cold, winter realm.
Unfortunately, it is proving to be a bit difficult to get back into the mindset of those characters and that world. I kind of anticipated this though, so I'm doing my best not to beat myself up over it. Rather than do that, I've set some small word count goals for this week to help ease myself back into the realm of Everwinter.
I'm also doing a lot of staring at the wall...which really means I'm thinking about scenes and figuring out how what I need to do to make certain things happen. It's basically plotting, but less writing it down and more meditating and visualizing.
Since I'm in the process of switching projects, my goals this month are pretty simple.
- 20-30K on UNBREAKABLE
- 10K on HUNTRESS
- Read two books for fun.
- Clear out Cupcake's closet of the clothes that are too small.
- Clean out the patio and maybe start a simple herb garden.
- At least 15min of yoga daily. Followed by a reflection (daily, bi-weekly or weekly, haven't decided) of some sort on my yoga blog: Strong Mama Yoga.
- Walk 2mi daily.
- Practice cleaner eating. Get rid of as much of the processed stuff as I can.
- Drink more water.
- Finish knitting Mom's potholders/dishcloths as well as my slouchy hat (which is 1/2 way done).
The main thing I want to take away this month (aside from a good chunk of UNBREAKABLE written) is to keep utilizing yoga as both a fitness and meditation tool.
Healthy body, healthy mind.
The time for change is now.
