Shards of the Master

Last night was the first session of my Werewolf: The Forsaken chronicle, titled Shards of the Master. I'm-a gonna talk about characters, and then put an LJ cut and talk about what I'm doing with the chronicle a bit. As such, any of my players who wander this way shouldn't click on the cut. :)

  • Alexia Outrunner-of-Winds Edwards: A Storm Lord Cahalith and an all-around American girl. She was a rising star in the wushu style of atarashii naginata when her First Change came after a win on the mat. Her deed name comes from the flight away from the pack of Pure that either wanted to kill her or indoctrinate her. After a year trying to hold onto the last scraps of territory with her pack, the three of them fled to Denver to seek out assistance with the local Forsaken. Max Roman found use of Alexia's aunt (an Irraka) and the pack's Ithaeur but decided to place Alexia herself with a freshly-changed werewolf.
  • Nathan West: An Iron Master Irraka, Nathan was a detective in a Hunter Cell in Philly before he changed into a silent stalker on a stakeout of a witness to ritualistic murders. Seeing as Nathan couldn't fight the monsters as a monster with them, he took the offer of a nomadic Iron Master's pack and went with them to Denver where Max Roman placed him in an enovy pack with Alexia.

The two don't exactly have a totem yet, as I think they're still in a wait-and-see mode. That works for me because it fits the totem hunt into the story (if they last long enough as a Pack to seek out a totem, heh)

My version of history for Seattle as well as ideas as to what's going on underneath the cut:

While the Colorado werewolves were experiencing their Brethren War and fighting the Idigam, Seattle's werewolves also took one a war of their own. Seattle had always been nearly evenly split between the Pure Tribes and the Tribes of the Moon. When the Brethren War came out, the Pure Tribes naturally took the chance to wipe out the Forsaken.

Of course, Seattle's not just home to werewolves. There's a thriving Mage population, as well as a recently-in-power Ordo Dracul Prince who decided once and for all to clean the taint of the Hellhounds from his city. As the tribes fought, the vampires joined in a rare show of unity and exterminated every last werewolf, down to the still-recovering-from-the-First-Change.

So, for the past decade or so, Seattle's been empty of Uratha of either bent. It's only been now, after a brief respite of "peace" that any other Uratha community realized that the Northwest had been silenced of howls. Max Roman wants to know what's going on, but he can't afford to send any well-established pack in Denver out and lessen his own power. The newcomer Nathan West proves to be a perfect envoy to toss at the Emerald City. To please Rachael Snow, he agrees to allow a Storm Lord to accompy the Iron Master as well.

So what's really going on? I'm thinking Idigam, vamp-werewolf tension, and some other things I'm not yet ready to call confirmed.

First story though, is going to deal with the newcomers coming into town and seeing for the first time, a Shadow that's been allowed to run unfettered for quite a while. Might start in medias res or just prior to an action scene. We'll see. :)
