"Batman" is certainly on my Needed DVD list, along with "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues", "The Patty Duke Show," "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.", and seasons 3 and 4 of "The Partridge Family." Oh, and "No Honestly," although that would be a R2 only release should it accidentily come out.

The grainy transferred-from-a-VCR quality lends something decidedly cyberpunk to the experience, yes, but I could really do without the occasional lines of scrolling static, the Bravo station identification blurbs at max volume, and the intermittent complete loss of sound.

ok we all know I didn't watch much TV but I gotta agree with Designing Women, it's one of the shows my grandmother loved that I would actually own, unlike her completely misplaced (so I hear I'm not judging!) adoration for MacGyver! And I do remember watching PBS reruns of People Like Us and it was freakin' hilarious. Nothing else strikes a memory, although I think my little brother wanted to be Max Headroom at one point, but that may have just been from the Coke commercials.

I wish they would release Stark Raving Mad. That was a fun show. I really enjoyed Barney Miller Season Two even if it took four years to come out.

Batman hasn't been released due to a rights issue between Fox and Warner Brothers. I checked on the release of this on DVD a few years ago and they said they were working on it then. I think Fox knows the demand is there but Warner Bros. are being a bunch of dicks.

Not only would I'd like to see the dramatic MAX HEADROOM series, but also the interview/variety show from Cinemax. I remember Oliver Reed looking quite, uh, "disoriented" in trying to deal with Max's bizarre line of questioning.

What about David Lynch's ON THE AIR? Or selective compilations from FRIDAYS, an SNL rip-off with a cast (Michael Richards, Larry David, Melanie Chartoff, Bruce Mahler...) that either shaped or appeared on SEINFELD. (Go to YouTube and check out their parody of ROCKY HORROR.)

MARY HARTMAN is another wish, but five-day-a-week soap operas demand commitment and lots of money. (Special nod and sympathy to all you DARK SHADOWS fans.)

If not MARY, how about FERNWOOD TONIGHT (later, AMERICA TONIGHT) with Martin Mull and Fred Willard hosting a local version of THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW.

Eventually, it'll all be released, if only as computer downloads.

All the best,
Fidge
