I don't think that this is entirely a problem with them performing live or a slight. I think the Michi/Julie fights have a slightly larger role to play. Have you not noticed also that Arashi does not perform during Uta no Natsu Matsuri either? It may be that the SMAP presence is too much for Julie to stomach, and that she prefers to have them put in a token performance for the sake of the fans, rather than miss out entirely.

Equally, on Best Artist, and other NTV programmes, the SMAP presence is non existent. This is just my opinion though, but it would seem that the variety/music aspect of Fuji TV is a SMAP thing, and that NTV is on the Julie camp. So more Julie-groups appear there, while the reverse is true for Fuji.

Again, all this is just speculation on my part, so please feel free to disagree with me ^^.

Michi / Julie "conflict" is just craps...
Arashi and SMAP not interacting as often as some would like is only due to their timetable.
It's even hard for the members to do all their shows altogether within a group....

The only band that never went to Utaban wasn't Arashi, it was TOKIO.....

I agree that calling it a faction is pushing it, without any information, other than gossip, which would suggest that. But based just on this things I've seen over the last few years, the J&A groups which appear on NTV and Fuji are different, and there is little, if not NO intermingling.

Even if you do say Tokio, and not Arashi, this was still some years ago, when this open rift was not as prominent?

Utaban was recorded at the same time as Dash...they couldn't be at the same time in both places ^^(no faction or anuimosity explainaition...just schedule)

I have the same feeling about Fuji&NTV thing.

It seems that both Michi and Julie hate the idea of SMAP & Arashi close cooperation. As a result we only got a couple of Music Stations (Asahi) and Kohaku (NHK) with both groups. Fuji and NTV is a big no-no.

Seems that way to me too. But NHK also give Arashi these other perfectly random other things for them to do, these small variety/talkshow type programmes. But also Kouhaku, even though SMAP appears, it still seems to be a Julie-controlled event. How many more years will they agree to have Arashi host it? When they are terrible hosts? All except for Jun who does an amazing job. Sho is just his usual dick self. Ohno is blah, Nino is annoying, and Aiba tries too hard. That doesn't really mean that the "group" hosts the event, right?

Please, stan GTFO. They all improve a lot this year and i not even been a Sho stan, i still think he did the best job from the five of them, don't live in denial.

Except sometimes there are just scheduling conflicts? Like, summer FNS this year, V6 didn't perform live due to scheduling conflicts and had a video of them singing Wa ni natte odorou with kids. And if anyone's gonna have scheduling conflicts that make it hard for them to perform live on every single music show, Arashi is.

I'm not convinced that scheduling conflicts happened three years in a row when people like Nakai can make time to show up every year.

same. i wonder if fuji refuses to have them on or if arashi & co refuse to go on... but i think the original mishap was a sabotage on fuji's part.. tho arashi aren't the best live singers.

Technical failures do happen, so stop blaming Fuji for sabotaging it.

Considering how stupid Arashi fans were when they ranted about that incident, I'm not surprised if Fuji TV is banning Arashi from appearing on FNS.
