[Ray falls down; goes boom] for imamountie

Ray was going to blame it on Canada. Never mind the fact that he had been there for what seemed like forever, and never mind the fact that he had been hurt on American soil more times than he could count.

No, he was sticking with this. It was Canada's fault.

He had gotten a case - real cut and dry, a simple find the scumbag and return what he stole kind of case. The guy was armed, so it had the potential to become dangerous, but that was nothing new. Ray could handle those cases in his sleep.

And he did; he found the guy easy as anything, but the loser bolted for the woods. Ray had no choice but to follow, since he worked alone. And the chase, while lasting too long, was also pretty cut and dry. It was fine, and none of the gunshots fired actually hit him because apparently the guy had an aim worse than Kowalski's-without-glasses. And Ray was just that good.

Naturally, it happened after he apprehended the guy, got him just out of the woods. The lady who had hired Ray was there, standing by the cars, and she looked thrilled.

And then Ray tripped over a tree root.

He went down, ankle twisting, and it hurt way more than it really should. The guy stared down at him, all tense and twitchy, like he was wondering if he could make another break for it. But Ray, while apparently clumsy, was not stupid, and trained his gun on the guy.

"Take one step and I'm shooting your kneecap. Ow."

The lady, Mrs Fry, came running over, looking worried. Ray tried to wave her off.

"Nah, I'm fine, look, good as--come on, what are you--?"

She had her phone out already. "I'm calling an ambulance!"

"What?! Lady, it's a sprained ankle! I don't need--" She waved off his protests and spoke clearly into the phone. The scumbag under arrest laughed.

Ray was going to kill someone.
