hellooooooooooooo america!
man, this is my first internet access yet, and its frustrating as the french keyboard me rend stupéfié and it takes three times as long to type everything.
soooo, immersion is not zwhat i thought it zwould be. i struggled soooooo soooooo sooooo much the first day as everyone talks so fast here. i'm starting to pick up the majority of things. i understood the conversation last night at the dinner table about presidents. and another american has come to stay with the family so surprisingly it's kind of helped my french because i've had to translate things for her and such.
my host family isn't what i thought it would be. they're nice and all but i rarely see them as they work or go to school all day and i have class for 4 hours and then nothing to do. i've begun to make friends in my class but we're definitely not to the point of getting together outside class. all this makes me think i should've stayed in the student residence where i'd meet more people.
but aside from the setbacks, it is FRANCE. im finally here and the culture shock never ceases:
-weird showers
-nothing but stick shifts, i could never drive here
-everything closes around 2 and reopens at 4
-there are absolutely NO clocks around and i still dont have a watch
-don't even get me started on grocery stores...
-they never wear sunglasses! i thought i'd be so stylish, but apparently not
-one's morning coffee or tea is drunk from a bowl, quite étrange
i just realised the people speking italian in this médiathèque are actually speaking spanish.
whew, well im off to find an ATM and perhaps to buy a watch.
and italians, obnoxious and loud like NO OTHER!!!!!!!!! oi.
